I really like the idea of being able to tweak the automation values via MIDI in realtime, for all the benefits that others have pointed out much better than I could have. However, I'm inclined to think that if all that tweaking in realtime isn't capturable and convertable to a persistent performance, then what's the point? One would have to go back and try to recreate what they did live in blue's score, which would be nigh impossible because the whole point of doing it live is to capture the emotion of the moment that only comes from a live performance. Modifying ideas while auditioning material and having immediate impact, that is something which closes the feedback loop for composing/audition/composing/etc. and those kinds of things I'd like to support. As a live instrument to perform in realtime, that perhaps might not be something blue will be able to support in a real first-class kind of way. One could perhaps create a number of instruments for use with MIDI and modify the parameters GUI objects in realtime, but generating score material and looped patterns and things may be outside of blue's focus. Also, I'd like to make sure to clearly outline the next few stages first and the core things required. blue as an instrument seems to first require building out other things first. I would say those types of things may well be easier to understand if they are feasible later when more of the other work is first completed. And of course maybe it is not a conflict to have both - a composition environment and a live instrument (maybe there is no difference - in classical composition a instrument is also needed to ensure the musical idea). But the shape of both is different in my eyes. That means in concern of vibration every traditional instrument had its own and necessary form. And I think this is as well for everything! - also for texts. I am not sure about this topic now, but in a few days I will be exactly. But well. "The question of form" should be integrated into the grafical notation of blues gui and underlaying text. My question is about the form. If blue is in live performance it is a instrument, you on the one hand create, by typing in your texts, and on the other hand you only use a preset instrument. I think this is difficult to realize. And Yes live interaction of blue is not a antagonism to my thoughts - it is simply nice to have and work with. > > ciao Hannes Kuechenchef Kahl > > -------- Original-Nachricht -------- > > Datum: Mon, 24 Mar 2008 20:00:25 +0100 > > Von: "Atte André Jensen" <att...@gm...> > > An: blue users mailing list <blu...@li...> > > Betreff: Re: [Bluemusic-users] blue brainstorming > > > > > hannes kahl wrote: > > > Hello all, > > > > > > Integration of the Csound API is relatively easy I think, and will be > > > the solution for live interaction with blue.
