Focal Length Calculator

The viewing angles of the 3d window are determined by a focal length equivalent to a 35mm full frame camera (which has an image sensor size of 36 mm × 24 mm). The focal length calculator helps to match the viewing angles of other sensor formats like APS-C cameras or phones.

  • under presets, common sensor formats and some phones can be selected
  • if no preset matches your camera, sensor width and height and the focal length can be entered manually
  • a click on Update values refreshes the previewed numbers below

    • the 35mm focal length that will be used for Biosphere
    • the sensor view angles of the entered camera, determined by sensor size and focal length above
    • the current view angles of the scene, which may differ if Biosphere has another ratio set than the camera ratio
  • save as default: if the calculator is opened while importing an exif overlay image, the set camera configuration can be added to the preset list to use these values for other images of this camera. This custom presets can be removed with the "" button to the right of the preset selection.

A click on Ok uses the new focal length for the 3d window.
