I have a EdiMax (Realtek 8139 based) PCMCIA card in
my dell laptop.
version 0.3.5b does not load a driver for it anymore.
after some research i belive that 8139too.o is the correct
module.
but i cannot load it, as the cardmgrd does not assign irq
or IO to this card.

cardctl shows same info on both 0.2b and 0.3.5b
Socket 0:
no product info available
Socket 1:
product info: "Realtek", "Rtl8139"
manfid: 0x0000, 0x024c
function: 6 (network)

8139too does not support any options, such as irq= or
address=. So there is no way to specify them during
modprobe. modprobe fails with hint that irq/io may be
not assigned. and suggests to use pci=biosirq. but i
dont know where to specify it.

one of the major things i noticed that yenta_socket is
not loaded anymore. and i cannot load it.
running modprobe -v -d y*
gives me:
yenta_socket.o module not found. which obviously
wrong, because it is there. i tried to supplement
yenta_module from 0.2b but with no luck.

this is from 0.2b

I too had problems with my Yenta socket. But at about the
time I was ready to give in, I noticed that there was a
menu in X11 to start PCMCIA.

After saying "Oh", and swearing, I ran it and all the
modules I needed were loaded (my Xircom cardbus had a
different module loaded than when running Redhat, but it
still worked fine, so I shrugged).

I am not certain what the script was called, but I am going
to write a tty menu item this evening if cooking and the
Simpsons don't distract me to much.

    It will appear on/at
    http://www.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/~arlt/fire/, hopefully be tommorow.

Odd... Said script already exists. Sorta.

    /sbin/dlg/PCMCIA.sh

I will still be placing a new verision of the menus on the
    afore mentioned web site.
