Known Issues with BallroomDJ

(Updated 2020-9; BallroomDJ version 3.29.25)

The upgrade function has been removed. The upgrade function in older versions will no longer be supported.

All Platforms

• Song List Editor: There is still an issue with the song list
  editor pulling up a prior song list that was not the last saved.
  Using the "Edit -> Restore Backup" function is the work-around.
  I have not been able to find a way to re-create this problem.
  There is some sort of race condition. I am putting some code into
  version 3.30.0 that might help.

• The support function is broken in versions: 3.29.9 through 3.29.11
  and 3.26.2 through 3.28.1. Also broken in 3.31.2, 3.31.3 and 3.32.0.

Windows

• Windows account names with special characters: windows creates the
  account names using the windows encoding for the locale. But the
  path names are treated as utf-8. This does not work.
  There is no work around for mixed encodings,
  and account names with special characters will not work.

Mac OS X

• Audio output selection is not tested well (2017-7)

Linux

• Some Linux distributions are defaulting pulseaudio's flat-volumes configuration to yes. This causes problems initializing VLC's initial volume, as later pulseaudio will change the master volume. It is recommended that the flat-volumes configuration be set to no.
• When first starting up the player, the volume sometimes glitches at the beginning of the very first song. This is caused when BallroomDJ initializes VLC's internal volume control, and VLC/pulseaudio then changes the master volume. This occurs whether or not flat-volumes is on or off.
• Fedora Linux has multiple problems. There are some changes made to work around Fedora issues.
• When using a gnome or ubuntu desktop environment, fonts will not scale properly. You must set the font size.
