Wiki Home : How To Use BallroomDJ : Optional : Auto Organize
(Updated 2020-8; BallroomDJ version 3.29.24)
Auto Organization is an optional configuration.
BallroomDJ has the ability to automatically rename your audio files based on the organization path. The organization path can be configured to reflect the audio file organization that you wish to have.
Note that the organization path is also used to help determine the song's artist, title, etc. if no audio file tags are present in the audio file.
If you already use another program to organize your audio files, it is not necessary to turn on auto organization.
1) The update database function has an additional selection, Reorganize.
Configuration / Organization
Select Configuration from the main menu, then select
Organization in the configuration menu. Change the Auto Organize selection to yes. Select the Save button.
In the Organization configuration option, select the Edit button to edit the Standard Path. The edit path dialog will display.
The edit path dialog has the following elements displayed:
Some common organization paths are:
Example | Organization Path |
---|---|
Waltz\Nocturne.mp3 |
{DANCE\}{TITLE} |
Waltz\Secret Garden\Nocturne.mp3 |
{DANCE\}{ARTIST\}{TITLE} |
Waltz_Nocturne.mp3 |
{DANCE_}{TITLE} |
Nocturne - Waltz.mp3 |
{TITLE}{ - DANCE} |
Secret Garden\Nocturne.mp3 |
{ARTIST\}{TITLE} |
Soundtrack\Secret Garden\Waltz - Nocturne.mp3 |
{GENRE\}{ARTIST\}{DANCE - }{TITLE} |
Note that putting a backslash as the last character of a group will create a new folder level when the audio file is renamed.
The example paths above have examples of text before the keyword { - DANCE}
, text after the keyword {DANCE - }
and new folder levels
{DANCE\}
.
Change the path to match the audio file organization you want for your files. Make sure the status message indicates that the path is ok before exiting. The changes will automatically be saved.
New audio files will not be renamed until the Reorganize selection in the update database function is used. This allows you to locate and work on the new audio files until you are ready to allow them to be automatically organized.
Once the reorganize update database function has been used, any further changes to the audio file will automatically rename the audio file.
