Nice to hear that you were able to solve your issue. It gave me the impetus to have a look at my code and I have to admit that the current implementation is not the best idea. If there is no valid configuration file, it is not possbile to create a valid one. So, users go round in circles. I will think about a better solution in a future release. To answer your question: config files don't get removed when uninstalling a plugin. With the old Plugin Manager (abandoned some years ago) it was possible...

I had an idea. I found a AutoCodepage.ini that was not removed when I uninstalled the plugin. I deleted it and it was created new. Before it did not have the ini file sections [...]. Now I can add groups and it works like a charm. Thank you very much! Is it normal that the config files of plugins don't get removed when one uninstalls a plugin?

Thank you for opening a new ticket. Would you please post the debug infos of your Notepad++ installation? You can find these at (menu) ? -> Debug Info. Click on button Copy debug info into clipboard and paste it here in a new comment. This way I get some useful infos about your installations's environment. Without that I cannot help you because under Windows 10 neither with Notepad++ v8.6.9 nor with v8.7 I'm able to reproduce your issue.

With NPP 8.7 (and before) this plugin v1.2.7 doesn't work any more. I cannot add groups. Clicking the + button does nothing.

Thank you for your thorough testing! It seems like you use the session feature of Notepad++ ((menu) Settings -> Preferences -> (register) Backup -> (check box) Remember current session for next launch). Can you confirm that? I will set up a test environment in a VM: Windows 10 v1709 x64 build 16299.1127 Notepad++ v7.7 x64 with Remember current session for next launch set active AutoCodepage v1.2.3 This is a use case I haven't tested yet since I don't use the session feature.

What happens when you open a .cmd file with Notepad++ via (menu) File -> Open? What happens when you drag & drop a .cmd file to the Notepad++ window? Please note: It seems that you run Notepad++ in Admin mode (your debug info states: Admin mode : ON).
