Audivolv 0.1.6 running on a Windows XP computer with Java 1.6.0_14, in the options/speakers part of the window, the list of sound cards and options contains a dial-up-modem.

Because of other problems on that computer, none of the sound-cards played sound so I do not know if a modem can be used like a sound-card. If it can, then it should stay in the list. If not, then any sound card whose name contains "modem" should be removed from the list.

It may also be possible to use it with an analog phone system, but probably they're all digital.

It would be more useful as a second sound-card with its own speaker and/or microphone that plays at the same time as the main sound-card. Later versions of Audivolv will be able to use as many sound-cards as your computer has.

Learn what the modem in the sound-card list can be used for and fix any bugs related to it or remove it from the list.
