Igor[Rock] is back, AQ2-TNG update will come :-)

Hi my fellow AQ2 players,

After a long, long time (maybe to long, sorry for that), I'm back coding AQ2-TNG.

If you have a closer look at the CVS, you will see that I already started improving and bugfixing the code.

Alltogether, I want to make the source code a little bit smoother and straighter. Right now, e.g. the match system and all those different game modes all use their own small code snippets to do what they need to do (one after the other) - I want to clean this mess up and to straighten the operation of the server to improve both performance and stability (no more side effects because of one forgotten "if" clause, please ;-)... read more

TNG client & server pak updated

Ever wondered why the TNG sounds were so shitty (like someone drugged sitting in a trashbin)? That's because whoever created the client pak 1.5 some time ago used sounds which weren't approved or wanted by the team. Since I only use the CVS for my own installation I didn't realize that till now. He added some graphics as well (a pciture of Saddam Hussein). This won't happen again, I'll check EVERY release if it's conform to the CVS from now on. Sorry for the inconvenience. I've uploaded a new server archive as well, so if you plan to run a server, you should download that archive instead (you'll need the 2.81 Bug Fix release as well).

Action Quake 2 - TNG 2.81 Bug Fix released

Since it takes longer than thought to implement the additional features for 2.9, slicer released a bug fix version 2.81.

Action Quake 2 - TNG 2.8 released

I've added a new IRC client to the TNG, so you can advise the aq2 server to join an IRC channel and report what's going on. Very handy for league servers and clanmatches :-)
Bye,

AQ2-TNG 2.8 to come

We hope to release the TNG 2.8 release this week for both Windows and Linux. The Linux release is nearly done (it is being tested on 2 servers right now) and we will try the windows port this week.

The main new feature (beside some smaller bugfixes) is the new built-in IRC client, which enables the server to announce some messages about the running game to an IRC channel. The client will be fully configurable. It can request channel op and give channel op to server admins. There are 6 steps of chattiness, starting with only match related things ("xx has won the round" up to "talk-of-the [dead]"). It can be turned on/off with a single command.... read more
