OpenCPN AIS Radar view

The AIS radar view is a plugin for OpenCPN 3.x and displays AIS targets in a radar style view.
The view can be adjusted for the maximum range displayed and north-up or course-up.
As an aid a EBL can be set to any direction. The estimated bearing line adjusts automatically when the view is switched from north-up to course-up and vice versa

Installation :

  • Step 1: copy the DLL into the OpenCPN plugins directory
  • Step 2: start OpenCPN
  • Step 3: In the toolbox select the tab Plugins, the plugin is now visible
  • Step 4: click on the plugin and click activate
  • Step 5: click the Toolbox Ok button and the redar icon is visible in the toolbar

Usage : to start click on the radar icon, the view will appear
to stop click the radar icon again, the view will disappear
Select the range needed using the controls at the bottom of the view. The view will adapt immediatly
Select or deselect the north-up check box to choose between north-up or course up, the view will adap immediatly

Release note :

          - added course indicator for course up display
          - added wind direction indicators (N, E, S, W) for north up display
          - added EBL (electronic bearing line). It takes switching between north/course up into account
          - removed direct access to the config object from RadarFrame. The RadarFrame is for
        display only and should not bother about storage locations. The info is now requested from 
        the radar_pi object that interfaces between the mainprogram and the view
