I need to install the airjack driver, however i do not have a prism2 card, i have a Orinoco card called WavwLan gold. I therefore installed the pcmcia-cs-3.1.31 patch and did the following steps Initially i compiled the airjack-v0.6.6b-alpha, did make, make install and depmod 1. copy /airjack-v0.6.2-alpha/patches/orinoco.c.patch to /usr/src/pcmcia-cs-3.1.31/wireless/ 2. patch -p0 < orinico.c.patch 3. in the /usr/src/pcmcia-cs-3.1.31/wireless/ directory typed "make" 4. copied the .o files into my modules directory (/lib/modules/2.4.20-8/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/ 5. depmod 6. restarted pcmcia service When i did lsmod i could not see airjack_cs, so then i did modprobe airjack_cs, and then i could see it in lsmod However in lsmod i can see it as being unused. My lsmod looks like follows Module Size Used by Not tainted orinoco_cs 5804 2 orinoco 31140 0 [orinoco_cs] hermes 4804 0 [orinoco_cs orinoco] airjack_cs 19080 0 (unused) ds 8680 1 yenta_socket 13472 1 pcmcia_core 57216 0 [orinoco_cs airjack_cs ds yenta_socket] I tried doing ifconfig and i cannot see aj0. How shall i make aj0 active. Do i need to change any config file, if yes which config file. I do not have wavelan-ng.conf file, i have 1 conf file in etc/pcmcia. If i have to change anything in the config file, what would i have to change Could you pleae help me with this problem. It does not seem to use the airjack_cs module, it uses the orinoco_cs module. -Thanks deeps _________________________________________________________________ Instant personal loans. Rupinder, Sounds like the version of pcmcia-cs that is installed on your system is = not the same version that you used to compile Airjack with. I recommend you upgrade your kernel to something more modern in the 2.4 = train, and download the source to pcmcia-cs, compile and install, and = then return to AirJack. Good luck, -Josh > In the /var/log/messages file i found the following error: > May 2 19:53:45 rgill1 kernel: airjack_cs: airjack_config: incompatable Card Services version in use. |

Hi,
I am running Redhat 9 kernel version 2.4.20-8. To compile
airjack i used kernel-pcmcia-cs-3.1.31-9 source tree.
When i try to modprobe airjack, it comes back with an error
about incompatible version.
What version of kernel do i need ?
[rgill1 airjack-v0.6.6b-alpha]# make install
rm -f airjack_cs.o airjack.o hfa384x.o
gcc airjack.c -O2 -Wall -DMODULE -D__KERNEL__ -I. -I-
-I/usr/src/pcmcia-cs-3.1.31/include -I/lib/modules/`uname
-r`/build/include -c
gcc hfa384x.c -O2 -Wall -DMODULE -D__KERNEL__ -I. -I-
-I/usr/src/pcmcia-cs-3.1.31/include -I/lib/modules/`uname
-r`/build/include -c
ld -O 2 -r -o airjack_cs.o airjack.o hfa384x.o
cp ./airjack_cs.o /lib/modules/`uname
-r`/pcmcia/airjack_cs.o;sync;sync;sync
[rgill1 airjack-v0.6.6b-alpha]# modprobe airjack_cs
/lib/modules/2.4.20-8/pcmcia/airjack_cs.o: init_module:
Operation not permitted
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module
parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output
from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.20-8/pcmcia/airjack_cs.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.4.20-8/pcmcia/airjack_cs.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.20-8/pcmcia/airjack_cs.o: insmod airjack_cs
failed
In the /var/log/messages file i found the following error:
May 2 19:53:45 rgill1 kernel: airjack_cs: airjack_config:
incompatable Card Services version in use.
I tried looking for the required version, but the file
airjack.c only refers to a macro CS_RELEASE_CODE, which i
couldn't find a #define for.
if(serv.Revision != CS_RELEASE_CODE) {
printk(KERN_ERR "airjack_cs: airjack_config:
incompatable Card Services version in use.\n");
return(ERROR);
}
Thanks

Ok, i know it is a MITN attack. I have sniffer it but i can not recognize its steps. First, disauthenticate the clients? Second, ... I have tried to look for information but it isn't enought. Sorry. I believe that was true. I rebuilt the kernel with some things out of it and now the driver builds just fine and works with essid_jack an other tools. I still can't get airjack to build...I think I have my kernel source tree all screwed up. I really probably should start over but most things work just great and I'd hate to screw it up. I ought to get airjack working on my ipaq...then I could rebuild/fix my laptop. -----Original Message----- From: Abaddon [mailto:ab...@80...] Sent: Monday, November 03, 2003 6:47 AM To: Jerry Shenk Cc: 'Joshua Wright'; 'airjack-users' Subject: RE: [Airjack-users] Airjack error - Operation not permitted as best I can tell this is some redhat kernel thing, if you're not running redhat please let me know what you're running...can you let me know the kernel you're using including any redhat subversions...thanks... --Abaddon On Tue, 2003-10-28 at 08:38, Jerry Shenk wrote: > Here's the last couple lines of dmesg: > airjack_cs: Initialization complete. > aj0: index 0x01: Vcc 5.0, Vpp 5.0, irq 5, io 0x0140-0x017f > eth0: flipped to 10baseT > eth0: flipped to 10baseT > > And here's the response from id: > uid=0(root) gid=0(root) > groups=0(root),1(bin),2(daemon),3(sys),4(adm),6(disk),10(wheel) > > And here's the exact error when I run essid_jack: > ]# ./essid_jack -b 00:04:96:50:27:67 -c 1 -i aj0 > get_socket: Operation not permitted > > -----Original Message----- > From: Joshua Wright [mailto:Jos...@jw...] > Sent: Tuesday, October 28, 2003 7:53 AM > To: Jerry Shenk; airjack-users > Subject: RE: [Airjack-users] Airjack error - Operation not permitted > > > Jerry, > > > I've been working on getting AirJack working today. Michael, Try capturing the transaction with tcpdump on the AirJack interface, and = send that to the list for analysis: (in one window) # tcpdump -i aj0 -s0 -w failed-essid-jack.dump (in the other window) # essid_jack .... With the failed-essid-jack.dump file, we'll be able to see what's going = on here. That's where I got the MAC address that I used for the same kind of testing. Is there at least one client on this WLAN? You mentioned your close proximity to a client in your original message so as long as you meant client and not AP, I guess that answer is yes;) Since essid_jack breaks an existing machines association and then watches for the probes from that client, if there is no client, then essid_jack won't have any existing associations to break. -----Original Message----- From: air...@li... I had the same problem for awhile...I double-checked my settings and kept trying...eventually, I realized that I'd flipped two of the numbers in the BSSID. I think the fact that you're getting that error message indicates that essid_jack can at least talk to your card. Before rebuilding my OS and dropping a couple features, I didn't get that far. Are you running the tools as root? To open and bind sockets, you need root privileges. I usually run airjack and related tools with sudo - "sudo essid_jack ...". > I also have not been able to build airjack. With version > 0.6.6b-alpha, > I get a whole pile of undefined references. With 6.2, I get errors > about "_not_SMP safe...". In both cases, it ends with "make: *** > [airjack.o] Error 1". Also, in both cases everything in the tools > directory seems to be built correctly and runs till I get the > parameters right, then I get the "operation not permitted". Sounds like your Linux kernel has SMP support enabled. You can either recompile your kernel without SMP support (assuming your machine has a single processor), or just edit the Makefile to remove any instances of "-Werror". Try running the tools as root. If you still have a problem, send the exact output from the message with the output of "id" and the last few lines of "dmesg". -Joshua Wright Senior Network and Security Architect Johnson & Wales University Jos...@jw... http://home.jwu.edu/jwright/ pgpkey: http://home.jwu.edu/jwright/pgpkey.htm fingerprint: FDA5 12FC F391 3740 E0AE BDB6 8FE2 FC0A D44B 4A73 |
