This is possible through using a week <number> scheme with numbers because odd or even numbers. Note however that the NAS will powerup automatically every 6 days to rearm the timer, then stop automatically, because of a firmware limitation.

Hi Renauld is 4.3 different from the recent nightly build? Would I need to install it when the nightly build works for me? If yes do I need to remove the nightly build before I install 4.3 Some weeks ago I wrote to Synology and told them that I am not happy with their energy management implementation and that with APM there is a great tool they should implement. Anyhow I doubt that it helps but if more people woudl approach them?

Hi Jürgen, advpowermgr-DSM7-4.3.spk has been released right now. Regarding taking over the project, I have no contact within Synology, I tried some years ago with no success. All we need is some Perl developer, or the application to be rewritten in Python. This is feasible but requires time. If anyone is interested, I'm ready to spend time on providing rampup/support.

  • Renaud Métrich Renaud Métrich posted a comment on ticket #36

I didn't change any GUI code at all, so I guess it's due to newer version of DSM. Unfortunately I fear this will be my last update of the application, I don't have the hardware to test anymore and I just don't find the time to continue with this project. Ideally a developer should take over, but well, I doubt this ever happens.

  • Juergen Juergen posted a comment on ticket #36

Thanks for your time and efforts. I have installed it now, so far without any error message. The only thing I noticed is, that APM opens in a new tab in my browser and not in a window within DSM. But this is not critical I guess I will check if it works during the next days.

Implementing this functionality using uptime seems to be a good idea because this tool already provides the average CPU usage for certain time ranges (1, 5, 15 minutes), thus eliminating the risk of measuring spikes. • Renaud Métrich Renaud Métrich posted a comment on discussion Help

Hi, There are multiple ways to shut down the NAS using APM, usually it's based on a timestamp + additional options (e.g. based on network traffic threshold), so you can probably use it for your needs. For example, when I want to stop my NAS after having watched something on my TV, I'm using the "ping" plugin which turns off the NAS only once my TV is off.

The NAS is used for only one thing, to store ripped DVDs that I then play using KODI on an HTPC. I want the NAS to switch off (as long as that does not affect the present wake-on-LAN which works well) when I exit KODI or switch off the HTPC that KODI is running on. Can APM do this for me?

Please provide screenshots of the plugin configuration. I was talking of the Hosts plugin. - "192.168.9.20" means similar to "ping 192.168.9.20" command that is issued using command line

  • Emanuel Paul Emanuel Paul posted a comment on ticket #17

APM tells me that it is an syntax error. Don't know if you have seen my last question...would it be better to use the Host setting? I tried it also already with no effect. does it need a special syntax or only the IP?

  • Renaud Métrich Renaud Métrich posted a comment on ticket #17

By default the ping is done using a ICMP ping: ping 192.168.9.20 If the system is blocking pings, this won't work. You can also do a SYN ping; which makes the tool try to open a connection to 192.168.9.20 and port XXX you specified (e.g. if you set 192.168.9.20 port 22 it will try to connect to SSH port)

  • Emanuel Paul Emanuel Paul posted a comment on ticket #17

Thank you. Found the log. The DS should shut down at 03:10. I set a rule that it should not shut down if there is a connection. Settings: 192.168.9.20 1 1 The rule is activated. But the log file shows no detected connections. But the device on 192.168.9.20 is definitely on. Is there a special syntax needed? I don't understand the description in APM due to many terms I don't know.

Then there is a the log file, but I'm not sure it works with DSM7. The log is anyway accessible in /var/packages/.../target/store/log
