Hi everyone, long time no see. These domains are expiring in the next few months: accessgrid.org accessgrid.net accessgrid.com Most of the destination machines that were set up with subdomains, for example ~ > host venues.accessgrid.org venues.accessgrid.org has address 203.101.225.74 are gone. I'm happy to renew if there's a reason (and will probably keep the .org around for nostalgic purposes). Your thoughts are welcomed. Hi everyone, could someone point me to information about how to run a bridge registry? I thought that it might be part of the VenueServer but don't see it in the code, and guess that it might not be AG-related at all. Thanks in advance, David --- David Allingham Research Technical Officer CARMA School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences The University of Newcastle Callaghan, NSW 2308, Australia Dav...@ne... Hi, we are having trouble with the Asia-Pacific venue server (ie. it has been shut down) and I am trying to run up my own, but the certificate signing process might also be defunct. Does anyone know if it is possible to use a commercial (SSL?) certificate with VenueServer? I have tried importing one, and the key, but get an error along the lines of no cb entry in the PEM file (which aren't .pem files, but I think are in PEM format). And I can't figure out the "signing policy file" either... Any help to get a venue server running is appreciated :) Thanks, David --- David Allingham Research Technical Officer CARMA School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences The University of Newcastle Callaghan, NSW 2308, Australia Dav...@ne... Hi guys, This morning the APAG and accessgrid.org bridges appear to have failed. Since Chris is no longer at UQ I was wondering who to contact to get them restarted. Andrew |

Hello, list! We are going to start using AccessGrid again for a new project. As far as I understand there are some changes to server name that run bridge registry. I managed to find new packages (that I suppose include registry server name changes) only for linux. Are there new installation files for windows clients? Or there new registry is absent and we should add bridges manually? Anton Menshutin |

Hi Guys, I've had a report from someone here locally that they could install the AG software on the latest Ubuntu. I haven't tried it myself, I just wondered if anyone else has encountered problems. I believe he was using the automated script for installation so it could be that's just out of date. Cheers Andrew |

Hi, >From what you've told us you've got multicast working on the one local network, but in order for mulicast to work across subnets the routers for the subnets need to be configured for forwarding multicast packets between the subnets in question. I'm guessing in your case the routers aren't set up for multicast. If you're able to reconfigure or get someone else to fix the routers for multicast that's your best option. But that really depends on your network and if the separate subnets are allowed to talk to each other all. If you can't get multicast working you'll have to use a bridge of some kind. You could set up your own AG bridge somewhere on your network and get all your client machines to use that. This is preferable to using an external bridge as it will not use bandwidth otherwise used for internet traffic. Of course it does require a dedicated machine and time to set it up, but it's probably the best solution if you can't get multicast. You should look into the documentation, I found this which may help you set up a local unicast bridge... http://www.accessgrid.org/agdp/guide/unicast-bridge/1.11/book.pdf hopefully that will be helpful. Here's another link for QuickBridge http://www.accessgrid.org/agdp/guide/network-bridging/1.0/html/x128.html Unfortunately both bits of documentation are a bit old, so I don't know how relevant they are. Using an external bridge is something you could do, but it will end up using lots of internet bandwidth sending data out and then back in. It is useful if you're in a conference with someone outside your network so you should try to get that working. Hope this helps Cheers Andrew |

Hi, I have installed AG toolkit 3.2 in two Ubuntu system, when systems are there in same subnet then I am able to do one-to-one video conference(using USB camera and USB microphone) between these systems in multicast mode. When these systems are there in different subnet of same network, I am unable to communicate each other.I have tried with unicast option as per guidelines still I am facing the same problem (there is no firewall issues). Could anyone can suggest what is the best solution for video conference between different subnet or different network. Please suggest any specific configuration/setup is required for video conferencing. Regards, Sai Krishna |

It could be network related? - i.e. network ‘enforcer’ - i’ve had this happen and had to work with my local campus network folks to get priority with my multicast traffic (ultimately they setup a dmz just for our multicast). I.e they were regulating network traffic and it would cause a similar problem to mine. The symptom would be that ONE video stream would be on time, everything else would lag (queue) up by various amounts. It happened in only one direction too. The problem manifested on the receivers, not locally - and again it was multicast. I don’t know if that’s helpful or not to know as i’m not a network person… -John -- John I. Hi Khahn, I saw you showing your room to someone last week, connected to the APAG Lobby. Your camera looked okay with the shot of the whiteboard, and I think if you could light it a little brighter, and make sure you use new, well-inked whiteboard markers (the sort that almost leave drips, not the very very dry ones that are harder to read), it would work pretty well. If you want to test something, let us know. Hello Khanh, Although we no longer run Access Grid, one method we've used with AG is to run a document camera with RGB output and input, and treat the RGB capture as if it were a camera. The lecturer can sit and write much more quickly and easily on a sheet of paper than using a whiteboard, remains facing toward the camera, and at the push of a button on the document camera, can select the RGB input and so show anything from their own laptop, such as a Powerpoint or anything else on their desktop such as browser windows etc. We've used Datapath RGB Pro-02 dual RGB capture cards, though had to do a registry tweak to set 1024 x 768 resolution, because that wasn't available as resolution when we installed them a few years back. One quirk that arose was that Access Grid wouldn't run if both RGB capture ports were enabled, and so it was necessary to disable one of the RGB ports. Other software had no problems with dual capture. A lot may have changed in the AG world since we set that up. We do a lot of video conferencing now using Scopia and use this method to avoid running a presentation which doesn't always work well on some older hardware. It is necessary to ensure that the RGB capture appears as a large image for all endpoints. Layouts for H.323 users and recordings can be set via Scopia's "Scopia Management" moderator control, and Scopia endpoints can drag their own layouts to suit. This method also allows much better frame rates when showing video clips etc than the usual presentation streams on H.323 systems, and audio from the lecturer's laptop can also be added if needed to feed both the local venue and send out to other venues. Hi Miguel, I thought I had taken that problem into account when I created this latest CA but evidently not. I will have to investigate the cause of the problem some more. In the meantime, could you try a little test please? Change the name of ~/.AccessGrid to something else e.g. ~/.AccessGrid_XXX. With no other AG applications running, run certmgr (or certmgr3.py). That will create a new ~/.AccessGrid tree. Don't try to explicitly load any CA, just list the CA's. Has the new one been loaded automatically? Tom, if you're reading ... We saw that problem some time ago with a new (at that time) CA from ANL but you were able to issue a corrected CA. Do you recall how you overcame this problem when creating the new CA? I thought I had allowed for it by adding a 12 digit hex parameter to -set_serial argument of the "openssl req -new -x509 ..." command I used to generate the CA. That actually fixed the problem locally but looks like not globally. Sending again for list .. chris -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [AG-TECH] Requesting a new certificate or running a VenueServer without. Date: Thu, 29 May 2014 19:51:04 +1000 From: Christoph Willing <chr...@ii...> To: Miguel Sáez Llorente <mig...@us...> Although the complete authority server infrastructure isn't set up yet, the core of it is ready. We have a new CA and a mechanism for signing certificate requests. If you want to use it, the necessary steps currently are: 1. Download the two CA files from: http://www.ap-accessgrid.org/CA/ (the README has md5sums for them) and copy them into /etc/AccessGrid/Config/CAcertificates directory. They will be used automatically by new users (who don't yet have a ~/.AccessGrid directory tree). Established users will have to run certmgr3 (certmgr3.py on some systems), enter "ca" to go into CA mode, then import the .0 file you just downloaded) 2. Create a certificate request - in a terminal run: openssl req -newkey rsa:512 -nodes -out cert.csr -keyout cert.key and answer the questions (leave password empty for server usage). When complete this will generate 2 files, cert.csr and cert.key (you can give them more meaningful names if you like). Keep the .key file safe (you'll need it later) and send the .csr file here (I hope this list allows attachments) or directly to me. I will sign the request and email your certificate file (as a .pem file) to you. 3. When you receive the .pem file, copy it to wherever you're keeping the .key file, then from that directory run certmgr3.py - this time stay in id mode and then go: import cert.pem cert.key (or whatever the names of .pem & .key files are). 4. If you now have multiple id certificates, you'll need to make the new certificate the default e.g. default 2 (the number depends on output from certmgr3's list command) That should be all .. chris On 28/05/14 5:35 PM, Miguel Sáez Llorente wrote: > Hello everyone! > > My venue server certificate is about to expire within the next few days. > I'm trying to request a new certificate but it seems the certificate > authority server isn't up yet. Hello everyone! My venue server certificate is about to expire within the next few days. I'm trying to request a new certificate but it seems the certificate authority server isn't up yet. If it didn't get already fixed i guess it won't be soon enough so i'm wondering if there is any way to run a Venue Server without a certificate?. Hi Jason, Just to give you some of our experience: Currently we use Sony EVI-H100S camera with SDI output and Declink SDI capture card on Windows 7 x64 without any problem. Our applications including AG, SeeVogh, Skype, Adobe Connect, GotoMeeting … In the past we use Sony EVI-D70P cameras with the Opsrey 460e (4 PAL inputs) and windows 7 x64 and the system is working excellent. My experience with the other Opsrey card as Opsrey 100 (one video input) is very good as well. I have installed the latest ‘decklink’ drivers, but unfortunately I cannot get it to detect when any SD input is connected. Therefore, I have some comments/questions that I am hoping the AG community can assist me with. · The capture card appears to be working fine, as I connected it to a Sony HD1 camera and it worked fine (But this was ‘loaned’ for another AG system); · I have tried connecting it to three different - Sony EVID 100 Cameras and one Panasonic Cameras (Panasonic WVCP240 CTV Colour Camera) without success; · Unfortunately the other IVCE-8784 do not have windows 7 drivers – so I don’t have other options; · Has anyone used a Decklink SDI capture card to capture SD video on a windows system before? I am wondering this, just in case the latest drivers is what might be causing me by grief; · Does anyone recommend a good ‘Windows’ 7 capture card that accepts SD video. A single input is suffice. Yes we use one of those cards in the UQ RCC node (which you would have seen in the current Wednesday AMSI sessions). They're easy to install and work well. One thing to be mindful of is that the maximum signal is 1080i{50,60}, not 1080p{50,60}. That's fine for most cameras but may be an issue with other devices you may want to capture. chris On 9/05/14 3:37 PM, David Allingham wrote: > > Hi everyone, > does anyone have experience using one of the Blackmagic 4-head SDI capture cards (for cameras) with Access Grid?
