Icarus Verilog is an open source Verilog compiler that supports the IEEE-1364 Verilog HDL including IEEE1364-2005 plus extensions.

Findent indents, beautifies and relabels Fortran source, fixed and free format, and converts Fortran fixed format to Fortran free format (and vice-versa). Plugins for vim, emacs and gedit are included.

A tool to draw various charts from textual descriptions. Currently, three types of charts are supported: Message Sequence Charts, generic Graphs, and Block Diagrams, with more to be added in the future. There is a command-line version for Linux and Mac (replacing mscgen), which now sports a GUI, as well. Msc-generator allows fine control over the appearance and has a rich feature set complete with detailed documentation. On Windows, you can embed the charts in a document or presentation and simply double-click it in Office to edit them. On Linux and the Mac, a command-line version is available, and a GUI, as well. A .deb package is available starting from Debian Bookworm (currently testing) and Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish (22.04) from the official repositories. For older releases see the Wiki. Kokua is an open source metaverse viewer project based on the Second Life Viewer source. Disclaimer: This software is not provided or supported by Linden Lab, the makers of Second Life. The goal of Kokua is to greatly improve the usability of the Viewer through community involvement, thoughtful design, modern development methods, and a pro-change atmosphere.

A read-only JDBC driver for Java that uses Comma Separated Value (CSV) files as database tables. Ideal for writing data import programs and conversion programs.

Xschem is a schematic capture program, it allows to create a hierarchical representation of circuits with a top down approach . By focusing on interconnections, hierarchy and properties a complex system (IC) can be described in terms of simpler building blocks. A VHDL, Verilog or Spice netlist can be generated from the drawn schematic, allowing the simulation of the circuit. Key feature of the program is its drawing engine written in C and using directly the Xlib drawing primitives; this gives top speed performance, even on very big circuits. I have succesfully managed to simulate complete VLSI projects with this tool, both digital (Verilog / VHDL) and analog (Spice). Schematics can be printed in SVG, PNG, PDF, formats. Y2L is a Yacc-to-Latex pretty printer/convertor. It converts Yacc grammar descriptions into EBNF descriptions in LaTeX or plain ASCII. It's written entirely in AWK.
