What is PlusV? With traditional MP3, a typical Near CD Quality audio file has been encoded with a data rate of 128 kbits/s. While this is ok for people with big hard disks and fast Internet connections, this data speed has clearly been a bottleneck for people using modems or storing their music into 32 or 64 MB portable player FLASH cards. PlusV is a brand new audio compression enhancement technology that allows audio files to be compressed in as little as 64 or even 48 kbits/s. PlusV is not a compression scheme of its own, it is an extension that can be applied to existing audio formats. When combined with the MP3 technology, MP3+V files are fully compatible with existing MP3 files and decoders. To get full audio quality out of PlusV files, you just need a PlusV capable decoder, like a PlusV capable WinAmp plugin.

CIOS Audio Core is the infrastructure and subsystem in Collective Intelligence Operation System. It is a cross platforms audio abstract interface, supports including Mac OS X, Linux, Android, iPhone OS and Windows 7.

The project is divided into two main sections: a metronome and a click track generator. The metronome is intended as a practice aid for musicians. It loops a single bar of click track that is specified by the user. The user can select the time signature, beat division, beat grouping, bar emphasis and beat emphasis. The click track generator is intended as a song practice aid for single musicians or an entire band. Just like when recording int the studio, it provides a constant benchmark for the tempo. Both the metronome and click track are generated dynamically and played using the build in audio libraries of android. This provides a highly precise click.

The Environment State Virtual Sensors for Android is a library that allows recognition of environmental scenarios in which an Android device can be found. The basic scenarios types are: Motion states, Noise states, Proximity state, ringer-mode state.

Rehearsal Assistant is a software tool which helps performance artists conduct rehearsals by addressing media-related needs. The prototype application is for the Android platform, and allows spoken notes to be recorded and saved into audio files.

Remote-Player is an open source music player, which allows you to listen to music and control the playback while laying on your bed. It has a remote control - (Remote Player Android App). Connection between the computer and and the android app is via wi-fi. StoryTeller has been written for those who like to listen to a book or some music when going to bed. Thanks to its auto-rewind feature you'll never miss a part of your book as StoryTeller will simply rewind to the last point you successfully indicated you were still awake, at least to a certain degree. When StoryTeller beeps that means you have to shake the hell out of your phone to signify you are still, more or less actively, listening. Doing so successfully will reset the timer. In order to able to collect a lot of mostly meaningless data and also have a rough idea on how many people might be using StoryTeller I am using Google Analytics. This is disabled by default and you will be asked on the first start whether or not you would like to enable tracking. After that you always have the option to enable or disable Google Analytics through the settings.
