    Homebrew

    Homebrew

Open-source, free package manager for Mac and Linux

Homebrew is a free and open-source package manager designed for macOS and Linux that simplifies installing and managing software from the command line. Often called “the missing package manager,” it provides tools and applications that are not included by default with the operating system. Homebrew installs packages into its own directory and safely symlinks them, keeping the system clean and organized. It uses simple commands like brew install to handle downloading, building, and updating software automatically. Under the hood, Homebrew is built on Git and Ruby, making it transparent, customizable, and easy to extend. It complements existing system tools and package managers, streamlining development and power-user workflows.

    Debreate - Debian Package Builder

    Debreate - Debian Package Builder

A utility for creating Debian packages (.deb)

Debreate is a utility to aid in creating Debian (.deb) packages. Currently it only supports binary packaging (note that the term "binary package" is used loosely, as such packages can contain scripts & non-code items such as media images, audio, & more) for personal distribution. Plans for using backends such as dh_make & debuild for creating source packages are in the works. But source packaging can be quite different & is a must if you want to get your packages into a distribution's official repositories or a Launchpad Personal Package Archive (PPA). The latter from which Debreate is available.

    m23

    m23

    Your linux deployment tool!

m23 is a free software distribution system (license: GPL), that installs (via network, starting with partitioning and formatting) and administrates (updates, adds / removes software, adds / removes scripts) clients with Debian, (X/K)Ubuntu and LinuxMint. It is used for deployment of Linux clients in schools, institutions and enterprises. The m23 server is controlled via a web interface. A new m23 client can be installed easily in only three steps. Group functions and mass installation tools make managing a vast number of clients comfortable. The integration of existing clients (with .deb-based distributions) into the system is possible, too. Client backup and server backup are included to avoid data loss. With the integrated virtualisation software, m23 can create and manage virtual m23 clients, that run on real m23 clients or the m23 server. Scripts and software packages (for installation on clients) can be created directly from the m23 web interface.

This project has a lively SVN repository for build recipes, over 1000 F/OSS softwares are available. The tool "pkgbuild" is for building packages on Solaris 11/OpenIndiana from RPM-like spec files. The tool also runs on OmniOS. If you want, you can create new style IPS packages and old style SVR4 packages for Solaris 10. The tool is not updated frequently, but the following "build recipes" for pkgbuild is updated every day. For a few hundred build-recipes see the sub-project "spec-files-extra" or "SFE". We already have stacks of e.g. multimedia players mplyer/vlc or postfix/dovecot/cyrus-sasl/spamfiltering. But there is so much more to be added! Volunteers to the build-recipes are always welcome. Please ask on the mailing list or irc://irc.freenode.org/#pkgbuild Please proceed now with the link below and remember to visit "SFE" on the left and browse through the available packages list in SVN. Or go for one of the binary repositories with ready-to-use IPS packages.
