Its object orientation makes it an ideal tool for developing small or large community websites, intra-company and corporate portals, weblogs, and much more. XOOPS is an acronym of eXtensible Object Oriented Portal System. Initially a portal system, XOOPS is now a leading content management system (CMS) that serves as a versatile Web framework. XOOPS can also be used as a weblog or journal via a standard install using the News module alone. Another approach is to use modules like News, Forum, Download, Web Links, etc. to form a community that interacts with members and visitors. Or think big, like an enterprise, and develop modules to use with eShop that integrate into XOOP's uniform user management system. I started this project because I wanted a dead-simple blog. One that didn't need a database, used flat text files, and looked nice. It's main advantage is that it only requires PHP 5 and write permissions. There is no setup, just unzip and copy.

JForum is a powerful and robust discussion board system implemented in Java. It provides an attractive interface, an efficient forum engine, an easy to use administrative panel, an advanced permission control system and much more. Built from the ground up around an MVC framework , it can be deployed on any Servlet 3.1 container or application server running at least Java 8, such as Tomcat, Jetty and JBoss/WildFly. Its clean design and implementation make JForum easy to customize and extend. This has not been tested as extensively, but does not have any known bugs. It is freely available under the BSD license, and has recently been awarded the SourceForge "Community Choice" badge.

A Web-based Usenet News Reader written by PHP, support NNTP/NNRP access to News Server. Authentication can be easily configured with flexibility. It also supports the charset conversion between different Chinese charsets, both Traditional and Simplified.
