Open Source Image Processing Libraries

NOTE: the project has moved to https://scipy.org/scipylib/ --- go there to find latest versions. This sourceforge project contains only old historical versions of the software. SciPy is package of tools for science and engineering for Python. It includes modules for statistics, optimization, integration, linear algebra, Fourier transforms, signal and image processing, ODE solvers, and more.

The Camellia library is an open source and cross-platform image processing library, written in plain C. It includes a lot of speed-optimized imaging functions (filtering, morpho, labeling, motion detection, warping, color conversion, project/backproject)

MDSTk is a collection of 2D/3D image processing tools aimed at medical images. It contains routines for volume data processing (3D filtering, segmentation, etc.) as well as fast low-level vector graphics library for surface and tetrahedral meshing. MDSTk has been forked by 3Dim Laboratory s.r.o. to provide better support and further push its development forward. The Digital Image Processing Library (dimple) is a C++ class/algorithm library for image processing. Dimple consists of a wide range of image processing routines which can be viewed as low- to mid- level vision tasks.

Moved to: http://github.com/MIC-DKFZ/RTTB RTToolbox is a software library, developed at the DKFZ to support quantitative analysis of treatment outcome for radiotherapy. The RTToolbox was designed following object-oriented design principles and was implemented in the language C++. It supports the import of radiotherapy data (e.g. dose distributions and structure sets) from DICOM-RT format and other standard image processing formats by using a bridge to ITK. The RTToolbox supports the full range of radiotherapy evaluation. Tools such as DVH calculation, arithmetic operations on dose distributions and structure relationship analysis are provided as a basis for further calculations. Dose comparison indices such as Conformity Index (CI), Homogeneity Index (HI) and Conformation Number (CN), and biological models including TCP, NTCP, EUD and BED are determined from dose distributions and DVHs.
