git-quick-stats is a simple and efficient way to access various statistics in a git repository. Any git repository may contain tons of information about commits, contributors, and files. Extracting this information is not always trivial, mostly because there are a gadzillion options to a gadzillion git commands. For those who prefer to utilize command-line options, git-quick-stats also has a non-interactive mode supporting both short and long options. You can change to the legacy color scheme by toggling the variable _MENU_THEME between default and legacy. You can set variable _GIT_LIMIT for limited output. It will affect the "changelogs" and "branch tree" options. You can also exclude files from the stats. Note that it works with any alphanumeric, glob, or regex that git respects. -

Combine the advantages of a monorepo with those of multirepo setups by leveraging a blazingly-fast, incremental, and reversible implementation of git history filtering. The partial repo will act as a normal git repository but only contain the files found in the subdirectory and only commits affecting those files. Git Cola is a sleek and powerful graphical user interface for Git. Git Cola is free software and written in Python (v2 + v3). Git Cola uses QtPy, so you can choose between PyQt6, PyQt5 and PySide2 by setting the QT_API environment variable to pyqt6, pyqt5 or pyside2 as desired. qtpy defaults to pyqt6 and falls back to pyqt6 and pyside2 if pyqt5 is not installed. Git Cola enables additional features when the following Python modules are installed. send2trash enables cross-platform "Send to Trash" functionality. Never run pip install or make install as root or outside of a Python virtualenv! If you don't have PyQt installed then the easiest way to get it is to use a Python virtualenv and install Git Cola into it in "editable" mode. This install method lets you upgrade Git Cola by running git pull. -

Some programs auto-write their config files, without waiting for you to click an 'Apply' button; or even if there is such a button, most programs offer you no way of going back to an earlier version of your settings. If you commit your config file(s) to a git repo, you can track changes and go back to older versions. This script makes it convenient, to have all changes recorded automatically. If you use an editor that does not have built-in git support (or maybe if you don't like the git support it has), you can use gitwatch to automatically commit your files when you save them, or combine it with the editor's auto-save feature to fully automatically and regularly track your changes. If you have any other uses, or can think of ones, please let us know, and we can add them to this list! gitwatch can be installed from source by simply cloning the repository and putting the shell script into your $PATH. -

It runs on occasion to capture activity triggered by your editor. The time metrics are stored locally with the git repository as Git notes and can be pushed to the remote repository. Simply install a plugin for your favorite editor and the GTM command line utility to start tracking your time now. When you are ready, commit your work like you usually do. GTM will automatically save the time spent associated with your commit. To check the time of the last commit type gtm report. GTM provides git aliases to make this easy. hub is an extension to command-line git that helps you do everyday GitHub tasks without ever leaving the terminal. Hub is a tool that wraps git in order to extend it with extra functionality that makes it better when working with GitHub. Available commands are split into two groups: those that are already present in git but that are extended through hub, and custom ones that hub provides. Most hub commands are supposed to be run in a context of an existing local git repository. Hub will automatically detect the GitHub repository that the current working directory belongs to by scanning its git remotes. In case there are multiple git remotes that are all pointing to GitHub, hub assumes that the main one is named "upstream", "github", or "origin", in that order of preference. -

This will download all .gitignore files in ~/joe-data/ folder. Download the latest binary from the Releases page. It's the easiest way to get started with joe. Make sure to add the location of the binary to your $PATH. You can also use joe to append to a global .gitignore. These can be helpful when you want to ignore files generated by an IDE, OS, or otherwise. Joe isn't just a generator for .gitignore files. You can use it and its output wherever a SCM is used.
