Open Source Windows File Renamers

MultiFileRenamer is a tool to easily rename multiple files according to multiple rules. These rulesets can be used in different directories, can be stored for later usage and the results can be previewed. Written in C++ for Windows platforms. NOTE: I recently received reports of problems on Windows 7. However I switched over to Linux since Windows XP, and have not experience whatsoever with Windows Vista or newer versions. As a result I will not be able to make any changes to this project. If you wish to improve on some small thing, feel free to contact me. You need to be able to compile using Borland C++ Builder and have access to Windows 7.

File Tools is a convenience tool to manager different file system(based on Eclipse RCP). It supports mass rename, files/directories compare, advanced search/replace, directories synchronization, cross-platform, etc. Currently, this project is under developing, any idea is welcome.

This is a python based UI application that can rename a part of a set of files inside a directory based on the provided regular expression. This gives a lot more flexibility compared to other renaming files since it used grouping principle. This had two level of applying the rename, first stage shows who it will be when you rename it, if you are fine with the change you can make it permanent by clicking commit. This avoid the risk of file getting corrupted. To rename all .py file to .pyc is as follows: Search for Regex: (.py)$ Rename using this regex: .pyw

With this tool you can rename files with a running number. For instance, if you delete photographs from a gallery and want the remaining files to obtain a new, continuous running number. The detection of a running number is smart. Other numbers which occur more than once over different files will be detected and kept. The output pattern will be detected automatically. Written on C# .NET2.0, Used for mass file renaming, you can easily number you files, filter them by extension and then add prefix/suffix... Especially useful when you need to rename photos taken by camera. Now working on Linux port(C#MONO) testing.

Uniform Renamer is a batch file renamer aiming at reformatting Japanese manga files. It can reorder the information, converge similar terms and thereby unifying filenames towards one format. It is however not designed for numbering files.
