VICE is an emulator collection which emulates the C64, the C64-DTV, the C128, the VIC20, practically all PET models, the PLUS4 and the CBM-II (aka C610). It runs on Unix, MS-DOS, Win32, OS/2, Acorn RISC OS, BeOS, QNX 6.x, Amiga, GP2X or Mac OS X machines.

PPSSPP is an open source, cross-platform PSP emulator which allows you to play your PSP games on Android, Windows, Mac or Linux. ipasim (IPA Simulator) is a Windows-based iOS simulator designed to run IPA files directly on Windows without an actual iOS device. It helps developers and testers run iOS apps in a simulated environment.

Xenia is an open-source experimental emulator for the Xbox 360 that aims to let users run Xbox 360 games on Windows and other platforms by reverse-engineering the console’s hardware and firmware behavior in software. It implements the 360’s CPU (Xenon), GPU (including Direct3D shader logic), and system libraries to translate Xbox instructions into equivalent host machine operations, enabling many titles to launch and in some cases play at improved frame rates compared with the original hardware. Because Xbox 360 games use custom hardware features and proprietary APIs, Xenia developers have progressively mapped and translated these into PC-friendly code while balancing performance and accuracy, and the project includes compatibility tracking so users can see what games work and how well. Although not all titles are supported and some still suffer graphical or audio issues, the emulator continues to evolve with community contributions and experimental support for Vulkan and Direct3D.

melonDS aims at providing fast and accurate Nintendo DS emulation. While it is still a work in progress, it has a pretty solid set of features. Firmware boot (not direct boot) requires a BIOS/firmware dump from an original DS or DS Lite. DS firmwares dumped from a DSi or 3DS aren't bootable and only contain configuration data, thus they are only suitable when booting games directly. DS BIOS dumps from a DSi or 3DS can be used with no compatibility issues.

ASAP (Another Slight Atari Player) plays and converts 8-bit Atari music (*.sap, *.cmc, *.mpt, *.rmt, *.tmc, ...) on modern computers and mobile devices.

Play! is an open-source cross-platform emulator for Sony’s PlayStation 2 that aims to run PS2 games on a wide range of modern systems including Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and web browsers by implementing core PS2 hardware functionality in software. It emulates primary components like the Emotion Engine CPU and graphics synthesizer, translating game code and hardware calls into host system operations, while providing users with controls to load disc images, manage states, and configure rendering options. Because the PS2’s architecture is complex and proprietary, Play! pursues compatibility incrementally, with many titles playable to varying degrees and an active compatibility tracker detailing individual game status. The project supports optimizations such as JIT code generation on compatible platforms to improve performance and offers a broad set of build targets so developers and users can experiment with different back ends and environments.

Remix OS is a free Android version made by Jide, the company behind this operating system. This OS comes with certain basic Android features adding some missing functions that are present for Mac and Windows users. You install it on a USB and boot directly from that. It’s compatible with Intel and AMD processors, so it runs on almost any machine, and unlike other solutions, it has a dedicated desktop user interface just like the operating system you’re already used to. That means that when you open an app, it doesn’t take up the whole screen like it would on an Android tablet; it opens in its own window like any other desktop program. This allows you to use Chrome alongside Word, or Google Maps, or YouTube, or just about any other Android app. Remix OS is totally free to download and use. This is an alternative to running an Android Emulator for Windows.

Instructions: After starting this VM, enable the Play Store app, by clicking the Settings -> Apps -> Play Store -> Enable. Then, Launch Play Store App, by clicking the 3 vertical dots icon, at the bottom of desktop. Then download whatever app is needed from the Play Store. Quickly, Cancel any automatic downloads of Play Store app ( itself ), from the notification drawer, as this will prevent it from its future working. Disable the Play Store app, after your other app installs are completed. Increase CPU Count and Memory in VM's Settings, as required, for better performance.
