hledger is fast, reliable, free, multicurrency double-entry accounting software that runs on unix, mac, windows, and the web. With it you can track money, investments, cryptocurrencies, time, or any other quantifiable commodity; with a future-proof plain text file format, version control for your changes, and without needing any cloud service or vendor. Developed continuously since 2007, hledger is licensed under GNU GPLv3+, written in Haskell, and thoroughly tested, with $100 bounties for regressions reported. Currently, three user interfaces are provided out of the box: a powerful command line UI (hledger), a quick terminal UI (hledger-ui), and a simple web UI (hledger-web).

Pandoc is a Haskell library for converting from one markup format to another, and a command-line tool that uses this library. For latest releases, see https://github.com/jgm/pandoc/releases.

A command line tool that allows a semi-automated scientific articles management. It assumes an existence of a directory of a specific format in the file system. The tool interprets the data stored in the directory (called a repository), extend it via the usage of some automatic tools such as pdftotext, and search the text as well as some metadata.

Matterhorn is a terminal client for the Mattermost chat system. We provide pre-built binary releases for some platforms. Please see the release list to download a binary release for your platform that matches your server version. When you run Matterhorn you'll be prompted for your server URL and credentials. To connect, just paste your web client's Mattermost URL into the Server URL box and enter your credentials. See the Matterhorn User Guide on the details for providing each kind of supported credentials. For most of our binary releases, no additional packages need to be installed; they should just work out of the box. But here are some additional requirements that may apply for your platform. Matterhorn version strings will be of the form ABBCC.X.Y where ABBCC corresponds to the lowest Mattermost server version expected to be supported by the release. For example, if a release supports Mattermost server version 1.2.3, the ABBCC portion of the matterhorn version will be 10203.

Paperboy is a tiny .pdf management utility. If you download papers and other pdf documents, you might have noticed that filenames like 1412.4880.pdf are not terribly helpful for finding anything later on. This tool helps with that. It will offer to rename and move files to a specified folder, and it even gives some filename suggestions by looking at the content and the pdf metadata. Paperboy keeps its file management dumb on purpose (no keeping files in a database or hidden library folder), so you can uninstall it at any time and your files will remain perfectly accessible. Any pointers or help with regards to generate .deb, .rpm, AUR PKGBUILD, etc is appreciated. Ideally this could be mostly automated in CI, in the end Paperboy is just a single binary with a dependency or two. How do other packages do it? If you got a good example or link, open a GitHub issue! Make sure you have poppler installed, which will provide both pdftotext and pdfinfo.

semantic is a Haskell library and command line tool for parsing, analyzing, and comparing source code. Run semantic --help for complete list of up-to-date options. Semantic uses tree-sitter to generate parse trees, but layers in a more generalized notion of syntax terms across all supported programming languages. We'll see why this is important when we get to diffs and program analysis, but for now let's just inspect some output. It helps to have a simple program to parse. Symbols are named identifiers driven by the ASTs. This is the format that github.com uses to generate code navigation information allowing c-tags style lookup of symbolic names for fast, incremental navigation in all the supported languages. The incremental part is important because files change often so we want to be able to parse just what's changed and not have to analyze the entire project again.

Unused identifies unused code in Rails, Phoenix, and other types of applications, improving developer productivity. By default, unused leverages a different memory allocator called mimalloc. For my local benchmarks, it speeds up execution by a significant amount (which is documented in the commit introducing mimalloc), but currently runs into sporadic issues on Apple M1 devices. If you run into issues with segmentation faults, consider reinstalling unused with the stock Rust allocator. It is strongly recommended you install Universal Ctags to generate tags files. Universal Ctags supports more languages and has native parsers for a good number of them, resulting in faster tags generation time.

hscratch is a simple command-line tool to produce scratch sounds from a given phonogramme offline coded in Haskell. Currently, it lacks all that command-line sugar like '-v' and '-h'. Working prototype, still to be developed and improved.

ip6addr is a command line tool written in Haskell for filtering IPv6 addresses parsed against RFC 4291

Turtle is a reimplementation of the Unix command line environment in Haskell so that you can use Haskell as a scripting language or a shell. Think of turtle as coreutils embedded within the Haskell language. The turtle library focuses on being a "better Bash" by providing a typed and light-weight shell scripting experience embedded within the Haskell language. If you have a large shell script that is difficult to maintain, consider translating it to a "turtle script" (i.e. a Haskell script using the turtle library). Among typed languages, Haskell possesses a unique combination of features that greatly assist scripting.
