Jin is a Java client for various chess servers. It currently supports the Internet Chess Club (chessclub.com) and the Free Internet Chess Server (freechess.org) but is designed to be able to support any chess server.

SimpleShogi is a Java implementation of the game Shogi (japanese chess) it supports hot seat and multiplayer via network (UDP). SimpleShogi offers intuitive symbols for beginners but does not implement an AI-player.

PairFX is a chess pairing program specialized for youth tournaments in schools and chess clubs . No installation required! Just Unzip it and go! I created a free online/mobile version as well : https://oks.myvcc.be/pairfx-live/ (You can run any kind of tournament with it actually but it was written for chess in schools) It supports the organization of a so-called 'run through' tournament and round robin (everybody against everybody) tournaments Swiss pairings are not (yet) possible. Are you a chess teacher at school, or organize a separate tournament at the club? Try PairFX! The run through pairing system makes it possible for player to come and go whenever they want and also to keep players playing all the time. It is not round based , so not everybody has to be finished to allow new pairings to be made. This is really great when players play at different speed and works very well in the club or at school.

The support page also has more information about this program. This program creates a "Data" folder to save settings of this program and notes of tournaments and players. Players could play with each other on a single device or playing by multiple devices by a network. This program shows squares that mouse points on them and that helps to prevent any mouse mistakes that happen when playing chess by computers! Although you could do moves by keyboard too. This program has all the functionalities that you need to manage a database, but you cannot analyze games by chess engines or creating variations for them. This program has all time controls in chess clocks, but if you need more complex time controls, you could use them as well, because this program allows you to start a game from any position by two different time controls.

Java Open Chess is a project written in Java in NetBeans IDE. There is possibility to play for 2 players on local computers and via network connection. There is also an option to play versus quite weak computer oponent. Stronger computer oponens will be implemented soon. ATTENTION: Requires Java 1.8 or higher!
