Open Source Linux CD Audio Software

FLAC is a free lossless compressed audio format which supports streaming and archival. The FLAC project maintains the format and provides a reference encoder/decoder and input plugins for several popular audio players.

Grip is a GTK-based CD-player and CD-ripper / MP3 encoder. It has the ripping capabilities of cdparanoia built in, but can also use external rippers (such as cdda2wav). Encoder presets are provided for oggenc, bladeenc, lame, l3enc, xingmp3enc, mp3encode, gogo, flac, faac and opusenc. The main developers can be found in #grip on Libera (irc.libera.chat).

With AudioCuesheetEditor you can import textfiles, edit the imported data and afterwards export to a working audio cuesheet. There are also other export posibilities like csv or xml. Disc-cover provides an easy way to produce covers for audio CDs non-interactively. It scans audio CDs and uses information from the CDDB or CDINDEX database to build a back and front cover for the CD using LaTeX to produce high quality PDF or PS.

GryPhon is a Linux GTK CD-Player focusing on configurability, features and looks. It is a full-featured CD-Player, with CDDB-loading/editing/saving and is written PURELY in Python. GryPhon also features a full-featured CD audio library called CDLow.

This Java software is useful to set id3v1 and id3v2 tags on mp3 files, possibly in a massive way. It helps you managing a song database, searching for duplicate songs. It has a rename file utility, not only for mp3 files. It has an utility panel to create playlists, re-organize files in folders with the name format you prefer, an utility to optimize the CD disk space. This program was written in 2002, so I don't remember much about it ... but I used it a lot, as much as my close friends. I decided only now (shame on me) to share it with everybody in the world. Hope you'll like it, also the program's help is fully working now !!! Nice to install eclipse and debugging something 10 years later ... Please rate the software once you've used it !
