Open Source Assembly Audio Conversion Software for Windows

LAME is an educational tool to be used for learning about MP3 encoding. The goal of the LAME project is to improve the psycho acoustics, quality and speed of MP3 encoding. Note: we provide source code only!

FLAC is a free lossless compressed audio format which supports streaming and archival. The FLAC project maintains the format and provides a reference encoder/decoder and input plugins for several popular audio players.

IMYplay is a player for iMelody (IMY) ringtones / files (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMelody). IMYplay can use the following outputs to produce sound: 1. The Allegro game library (http://alleg.sf.net), 2. SDL (Simple DirectMedia Layer; http://www.libsdl.org), 3. ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture; http://alsa-project.org), 4. OSS (Open Sound System), 5. Libao (http://xiph.org/ao), 6. PortAudiov19 (http://www.portaudio.com), 7. PulseAudio (http://www.pulseaudio.org), 8. JACK1/JACK2 (http://jackaudio.org), 9. GStreamer (http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org), 10. PC-Speaker (at least Linux and DOS). It can also: - convert IMY ringtones to MIDI files, - convert IMY ringtones to WAV files, - write raw samples to an output file, - execute an external program on each note. PSID64 is a program that converts PSID and RSID files into C64 executables. This allows users to play PSID and RSID files (originally used by the PlaySID program) on a real Commodore 64 computer or emulator such as VICE.

WavPack is a free, fast, flexible and featureful encoder and decoder for audio streams. Besides lossless, it can perform lossy and hybrid (lossy+correction file) encodings.

lossyWAV is a lossy audio pre-processor for WAV PCM audio. It reduces the bit depth which adds a predetermined level of noise to the output. The bitrate of the FLAC encoded lossyWAV output is significantly reduced compared to the lossless FLAC original.

sr-convert is a command-line sample-rate converter for WAV files, which supports a wide variety of sampling rates, and achieves very high sound quality. It runs on Windows (MinGW) and x86 Linux systems, and makes use of SSE instructions if available.
