PBMaster is a software implementation of Profibus protocol (IEC 61158) compatible master node. The objective is to provide open implementation for education, experiments, enthusiasts and also to open way to its use in low-cost applications by using common hardware and open-source software. ProfiM is an implementation of Profibus DP protocol for DP master devices. It is targeted at devices lacking any Profibus communication hardware support. For example a common PC UART or a PCI-based RS-232/485 card can be used for the fieldbus access.
