Helix Toolkit is an open source 3D library that is licensed under the MIT license. The MIT license is very permissive and permits use in proprietary software. This plugin enable unsupported functionalities for Autodesk Inventor 2014 and above. The Graphics Library is built on top of OpenTK, the C# library that wraps OpenGL. This software allows a person to open, edit, create, modify, view, and save 3D STL models. It can also be used to extrude 2D images into 3D objects. You can also insert 3D closed primitives. The new STLX file format supports groups, materials, as wells as colors and generates much smaller files on average (compared to binary STL files). Controls and displays often fail to meet the requirements of users with visual, hearing, mobility or dexterity impairments. It is difficult for mainstream manufacturers to have a detailed understanding of these needs and how to design for them. Manufacturers would benefit from the support of a third party solution to input the necessary knowledge.
