  • Awesome!!! Awesome!!! Awesome!!! I've (still) been playing Sauerbraten 2010-07-21 until today. I love this game. Finally, all the maps I've forgotten about, plus new material and the old maps together in one place! Thank you to everyone who has worked on this!!! I knew SOMETHING had to go right in 2020.
  • My favorite free FPS. Official development ended many years ago. I like the new maps and eye candy still being added. One bug that should have been fixed a long time ago is when monsters "stick" to objects like walls, trees, cliff faces, etc... This can make finding the last monsters impossible in a large map. Maybe this "sticking" is a function of Sauerbraten's primitive A.I. and would require a major rewrite of the A.I. code. I don't know. One feature that should have been part of the game from the beginning is the ability to kneel and go prone. Also, I would like to be able to shoot through "soft" partitions like wooden doors or windows. Some other things to fix/change: the quad shotgun's ridiculously short range, the grenade throwing spider's weapon is way overpowered, monsters sometimes spawning inside objects like walls. I know I'm asking a lot, but these fixes/changes would really help extend the life of the game.
  • Very good project. I was searching for an engine like Cube2 and it is exactly I need. Hope you will develop this engine in the future too.
  • With possibilities to create your own map and play it in various modes like Insta, Effic, CTF and others. It is also possible to create your own Campaign map, controlling doors, elevators, monsters, triggers. All the sauerbraten maps have been made using the ingame Map Editor, so you can simply open an official map in edit mode and see how it was done. The game also has an internal "language", called CubeScript, which is responsible for creating the Menus, is a very powerful ingame language, worth learning it. Sauerbraten is a perfect game for those who like to use creativity, or just kill some enemies. And if you are a lover of 3D modeling, with sauerbraten you can export any map editing to .obj format.

  • Great open source game engine with old-school gameplay look-n-feel. It resembles Doom. Also great feature to edit the entire game scene inside a gameplay.
