  • epplets: every time I reinstall my system and add this e16 and epplets I end up modifying some of the files to make the net ones work with WiFI on (slackware) Linux and mod the E-Slides to make the window bigger to see the images so much easier. By changing the eth0 to wnal0 in E-bandwidth, E-net ,and E-Netflame c files and because you changed the E-Slides code some. I, today found the place to get the window to display larger on line 58 : //static int w = 3, h = 3; to static int w = 6, h = 6; On FreeBSD (13.1) I have not took the time to figure out the network part to get those to work with WiFI too, that would be a welcomed change and there is an error in the /system/sound.h location mistake you should look into and fix. it would be nicer if you added WiFi capabilities to these as today people do use WiFi over eth0 and that image is just too small in E-Slides. It is nice to see e16 being maintained and updated and its epplets.
  • I love the e16. I'm using it since 2001 that's two decades now. I've tried some other's in between but I always came back to the e16. (On machines with very small displays where it makes not much sense having more than one or two windows on the screen I use ratpoison sometimes.) It's great configureable with some human readable files while there are programs available to do this for you, e16keyedit ande16menuedit2. You can hotkey everything. You can save positions of frequently used windows, which I also configured borderless to save space. Only analphabets need icons! No Kindergarten Desktop Environment here! (Just FYI: It works with enlightenment too.) Please Keep the e16 alive - especially when the distributions migrate to wayland. Dual head works flawless (if same size or at least hight) - also with all the 3 dimensions of virtual desktops. Well since I have a 50" 4k Display I'm back to single head. It was enough work to build one new desk (I'm talking about real work with my hands.) On that screen the option to save window positions comes really handy as there is no margin like on a dual head setup. I've made hotkeys for Quadrants on my huge 4k Displays (e.g. I press a key combination and the window sizes to 1920x1080 and is placed in any of the 4 corners. A tiling WM would be of no help here because I usually have a bunch of terminals and other small windows in the 4th (upper left) quadrant (of my first upper left desktop (We have virtual desktops in 3 Dimensions.(No, it doesn't confuse me. And if it ever should there is a map.))).). Those are my hotkeys for the quadrants/tiling-like-but- advanced: KeyDown CA 0 w** * size 1920 1080 KeyDown CA 1 w** * move 1920 0 KeyDown CA 2 w** * move 1920 1080 KeyDown CA 3 w** * move 0 1080 KeyDown CA 4 w** * move 0 0 KeyDown CA 5 w** * size 3840 1080 KeyDown CA 6 w** * size 1920 2160 KeyDown CA 7 w** * size 3840 2160 This is for a borderless terminal to go back to 24*80 with Droid Sans Mono Condensed 10px: KeyDown CA 8 w** * size 484 340 This is to make a window using the whole virtual desktop, usefull to mark a loooong line in a terminal or do windowshots: KeyDown CA 9 w** * size 7680 4320 To make windows borderless: KeyDown CA l w** * border BORDERLESS and back to default: KeyDown CSA l w** * border DEFAULT

  • E16 is an old school desktop window manager that can't be beat. Simple unix style text based configuration. Fast and works well with all the latest software. Thank you for maintaining this project.

  • Have used e16 as my preferred WM for over a decade. Still cannot find a WM to replace it.

  • Always loyal to e16, love it for it's light weight and customisation. Tried other but none gives me the flexibility i need. e16 4ever
