Clonezilla is a partition and disk imaging/cloning program similar to True Image®. It saves and restores only used blocks in hard drive. Two types of Clonezilla are available, Clonezilla live and Clonezilla SE (Server Edition).
Features
- Filesystem supported: ext2, ext3, ext4, reiserfs, xfs, jfs of GNU/Linux, FAT, NTFS of MS Windows, HFS+ of Mac OS, UFS of BSD, minix of Minix and VMFS of VMWare ESX. Therefore you can clone GNU/Linux, MS windows and Intel-based Mac OS, no matter it's 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x86-64) OS. For these file systems, only used blocks in partition are saved and restored. For unsupported file system, sector-to-sector copy is done by dd in Clonezilla
- LVM2 (LVM version 1 is not) under GNU/Linux is supported.
- Multicast is supported in Clonezilla SE, which is suitable for massive clone.
- Based on partclone to clone partition. However, clonezilla, containing some other programs, can save and restore not only partitions, but also a whole disk.

Extremely Powerful Disk Imaging Tool — Not Friendly, But Reliable I’ve used Clonezilla mainly for full system backups and cloning drives before migrations, and when it works, it works extremely well. It’s fast, accurate, and does exactly what it promises — copying entire disks or partitions without cutting corners. For IT tasks like deploying identical systems or recovering machines, it’s a solid tool you can trust. That said, the experience is far from friendly. The interface feels like stepping back in time, and you really need to know what you’re doing before clicking through options. There’s no safety net — selecting the wrong disk can be disastrous, so you’re forced to slow down and double-check everything. For me, Clonezilla is a serious tool for serious tasks. I wouldn’t recommend it to everyday users looking for a simple backup solution, but for admins or power users who value control and reliability over convenience, it gets the job done. That balance puts it at 3 out of 5.

Man! The software is outstanding! I've used it for years. It has saved me countless hours of frustration. The only complaint I have the download speed. Could you PLEASE, PLEASE HOST IT ELSEWHERE?! God almighty, man! I pay for a 1Gb connection and I can download a 4.7 Gb DVD image in 10 minutes or less. This? This less than half a Gb took TWO HOURS to download! Argghh! I'm semi-retired now, so, while I was waiting for the latest version to get here, I went and made supper, enjoyed eating it, watched a little tv, checked on the d/l - still wasn't done, dug through my piles of DVDs, found an older version and used that. By the time the new version was here, I already had the job done. I realize it is a free service but Jaysus!! If you can't find better (Github, Gitlab, snailmail,) talk to me. Maybe I can host it for you. Thanks for great software!!

We are using this program very intensive. (>100.000 restores a year). We had some issues and there are quickly resolved by the developer. Love this application!
