All, We are excited to announce that we are very close to releasing version 1.0-Beta4. We have reached a code freeze point where all major goals and features for this release have been implemented. We are now just waiting on final testing to be finished. The actual release date will depend how the testing goes but we are aiming for the 13th-18th of November. If anyone is interested in helping with testing, that would be great. Thanks. Regards, Michael MacFadden Streamline Dev Staff |

All, Guess what? We lied.... That's right, there was not stable cvs-snapshot last night, but there is a good reason. As of today, Streamline has support for the SQLite database back end. This is great for people who don't have access or administrative access to a MySQL or PostgreSQL database. SQLite is now packaged with PHP 5 and is easily added to PHP 4 so this should allow many more people to use Streamline. In any event we decided to hold of the stable snapshot until today so that we could include the SQLite support. Check the web site tomorrow for a new stable snapshot. All, At the end of the day today, there will be a new stable CVS snapshot of Streamline available on the project web site at: http://streamline.sourceforge.net/cvs-snapshots/ The latest snapshot adds support for installation with a PostgreSQL database. This will probably be the last stable CVS snapshot before the first Beta release, so if you have been itching to get Streamline installed with a PostgreSQL database and you can't wait a few more weeks, then check the project web site on or after Friday, August 13, 2004. All, FYI, the Streamline PHP Media Server has moved to a new project name on SourceForge.net. The original project name was streamline-mp3. However, since Streamline is now capable of more than just mp3 streaming, we decided to drop the "-mp3" from the project name and go with simply, "streamline". The new project URLs are as follows: Project Page: http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/streamline/ Home Page: http://streamline.sourceforge.net. There have been a few glitches in moving the project over to its new name, so if you notice any problems please email the project admin. The site move is part of the gear up for the first Beta release of Streamline. This will the most mature and feature rich version of streamline. While still only a beta release we are aiming to hit a new level of stability for the project. The release should be out in the beginning of September, so be source to check back then.
