Cities3D 0.9 is now available for download. All rules of Cities & Knights are now completed, including all progress cards, even the latest edition of the German rules that has the new Saboteur card (called the Arsonist in Cities3D). In addition, Cities3D 0.9 has a few more options, notably the ability to alter any of the decks of cards in the game (development, trade, politics, or science) to your liking. It also has simple game finding, allowing you to find games, connect, and play with other people around the world, including joining games already in progress as a spectator. You can even fill in for someone who drops from a game! Follow the links on the Cities3D Project Homepage<http://mirror1.cvsdude.com/trac/saladyears/Cities3D>to see Release Notes, download the new version, and learn how to report bugs: *NOTE:* You must uninstall any previous version of Cities3D, including removing player and game databases. If you don't do this, Cities3D 0.9 will crash on startup. *IMPORTANT:* If you receive an error that says, "This application could not start because the configuration is not correct. Reinstalling the application could solve the problem", then you need to install the Visual C++ run-time package (2.6 MB) from Microsoft. Use this link<http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=32bc1bee-a3f9-4c13-9c99-220b62a191ee&DisplayLang=en>to download and install the run-time. Now that all rules for the game are completed, the focus will be on additional features and options (like Volcanoes and Jungles) and a final push for zero bugs at version 1.0. Planned features for 1.0 include full Unicode support, game replays, game tutorials with narration (including the ability to make your own), more skins, usability improvements, and more. |

Cities3D 0.8 is now available for download. It has all of Cities & Knights completed, except for the playing of progress cards. That includes city walls, knights, city upgrades, barbarians, defender points, and even receiving progress cards (just not playing them). In addition, I have also added game finder code, allowing you to host and find games just like you do with Sea3D! NOTE: Please note that the Connector code in Cities3D is temporary only and exists only to help players find games to test the game and find bugs. If you also happen to have fun while playing, well, that's up to you. :) You must realize, however, that 1) there is no ladder in Cities3D, 2) there are no quits or drops, in fact 3) NOTHING IS RECORDED, you don't even register your name. It is a very, very simple and stripped down version of what exists in Sea3D that exists only to help you find other players to test play the game. Follow the links on the Cities3D Project Homepage to see Release Notes, download the new version, and learn how to report bugs: http://mirror1.cvsdude.com/trac/saladyears/Cities3D <http://mirror1.cvsdude.com/trac/saladyears/Cities3D> NOTE: You must uninstall any previous version of Cities3D, including removing player and game databases. If you don't do this, Cities3D 0.8 will crash on startup. ALSO NOTE: If you receive an error that says, "This application could not start because the configuration is not correct. Reinstalling the application could solve the problem", then you need to install the .NET 2.0 framework from Microsoft. Use this link to download and install the framework: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en <http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en> The only rules remaining to implement for Cities & Knights are the playing of progress cards, which will happen for version 0.9. I've got a lot of momentum going now on development so look for that by the end of November, at which point you will be able to play a full game of C&K, with all the rules! |

Cities3D 0.7 is now available for download. It has all Seafarers of Catan maps and rulesets completed, as well as several basic game options (also known as variants), and some nifty UI improvements, like popups on build windows that let new players know exactly how much an item costs. Follow the links on the Cities3D Project Homepage ( http://mirror1.cvsdude.com/trac/saladyears/Cities3D) to see Release Notes, download the new version, and learn how to report bugs. NOTE: You must uninstall any previous version of Cities3D, including removing player and game databases. If you don't do this, Cities3D 0.7 will crash on startup. The focus of Cities3D development is now on the ultimate goal: Cities & Knights of Catan. The groundwork has been covered over the past 2+ years, the foundation carefully laid, everything painstakingly plotted and planned for what comes next. Yes, the time has finally come to implement Cities & Knights. The next version, 0.8, will have all of C&K rules without progress cards. The following version, 0.9, will implement all of the progress cards. Remember that there is no built-in game finding software in Cities3D yet, so to play online, you will have to arrange a game with someone acting as the host and everyone connecting to their IP address. The IRC channel #settlers on irc.freenode.net is a good place to look for people testing the game. |

Cities3D 0.6 allows for fully playable Standard Settlers of Catan games including trading between players using the new Stockyard trading system. It also features new popup windows that help new players know what each item on the board and player windows is as well as helping players distinguish between similar colors. Follow the links on the front page of the Cities3D Project Homepage ( http://mirror1.cvsdude.com/trac/saladyears/Cities3D) to see Release Notes, download the new version, and learn how to report bugs. NOTE: You must uninstall any previous version of Cities3D, including removing player and game databases. If you don't do this, Cities3D 0.6 willcrash when you start it up. For pictures that show the new Stockyard trading system, see this post in the Cities3D forums: http://www.s3dconnector.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4860 NOTE: Seafarers maps are not finished yet, nor are the majority of Cities & Knights rules. The focus of Cities3D 0.7 will be on finishing Seafarers rules, and versions 0.8 and 0.9 will be focused on Cities & Knights. Cities3D version 0.5 is now available for download and testing. This release of Cities3D completes all rules needed to play a Standard game of Settlers of Catan from start to finish, except for trading between players (which will come in 0.6). To see the release notes, download the installer, or learn how to submit a bug report, visit: http://mirror1.cvsdude.com/trac/saladyears/Cities3D/wiki What is Cities3D? Cities3D is a cross-platform implementation of the widely popular board gam= e Settlers of Catan, including the Seafarers of Catan and Cities & Knights of Catan expansions. It is a complete rewrite of the existing Sea3D code base. Some of the features of Cities3D include: * A completely skinnable interface. * Spectator mode and replacements for dropped players. * Replay of any completed game from start to finish. * Update look and feel. * Seafarers and C&K expansions. * Hotseat and network games. NOTE: Cities3D is not complete. Namely, you cannot play a full C&K game or most Seafarers maps yet, nor can you automatically find games to play like you can with Sea3D. Those features are all coming in future versions. |

It's been a loooong time since anyone on this list has received anything from it. That's because I've been hard at work for many months on a total rewrite of Sea3D, called Cities3D, that will be cross-platform for Linux and Windows and have all of the Cities & Knights rules, as well as a host of other upgrades and features. This notice is to announce that version 0.1 of Cities3D has been completed. For more information and to see some screenshots of the new UI, visit this thread in the S3DConnector forums: http://www.s3dconnector.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2331 |

This version completely removes any copyrighted art from the game and has a couple of minor bug fixes. It also removes the expiration timer completely from the game, as this is the last version of Sea3D development. It is free for download at http://www.s3dconnector.net/ Thanks to all who helped make this possible! |

This release has some important new features for online play. Sea3D and the site now keep track of all drops and quits during ladder games for a player, allowing you to know more about who is in a game or trying to join yours. With this release, Sea3D goes into bug-fix mode only, meaning that work will now begin on Cities3D, and the inclusion of Cities & Knights rules. You can get the latest version at http://www.settlers3d.net <http://www.settlers3d.net> . |

This massive upgrade fixes one of the most distressing parts of playing Sea3D online. Now, when someone drops, you no longer have to quit the game to restart it. Yes, that's right! When someone drops, everyone stays in the game and their Sea3D games stop completely and wait for the player to rejoin. As soon as they rejoin, the dropped person receives all the game data and play starts off from EXACTLY where it was when the person dropped. Holy cow! How many other online games have that?? Not only does this version have this great new ability, but it has several other bug fixes and features. Check it out at http://www.settlers3d.net <http://www.settlers3d.net> . |

This version has NUMEROUS bug fixes. You will want to update to this one immediately if you play on the ladder or through the connector at all. I've also added some Tournament start rules (well, half of them anyway), as well as some other graphical tweaks for you to enjoy. You can get it at http://www.settlers3d.net <http://www.settlers3d.net> . Once again, thanks for all your support! Jason |

For all of you players who really like that special build phase part of playing with 5 and 6 players, you now can in this release of Sea3D. I also fixed a few major bugs with gold and volcanoes and added the European harbors if you use those tiles. Jungles and Volcanoes you ask? Check out http://www.mayfairgames.com/extras/variants/0483-v00.htm <http://www.mayfairgames.com/extras/variants/0483-v00.htm> to see how they work! They are both fun new variations on the classic board game. This version also allows you to post your restarted games to the Connector, giving you an easier way to get everyone back in the game after someone drops. As always, send me any bugs or suggestions! Greetings all. This version of Sea3D is now only 2.75 MB to download, so there's no reason not to try it! I made the sea borders an optional add-on, which reduced the size of the download greatly. There are some good new features in this version. Download it at http://www.settlers3d.net <http://www.settlers3d.net> and then give S3D Connector a try and find games to play! |

Yes, it's only been three days, but this version has enough bug fixes and new features to warrant a fast release! Now, hosts using the Connector can specify an alternate IP and/or port for clients to connect on. This is extremely valuable for hosts setup behind a firewall but using port forwarding. There are a few other bug fixes and features as well. Check it out at http://www.settlers3d.net <http://www.settlers3d.net> . |

This is the biggest thing to hit Settlers3D in a long time. This = release of Sea3D has S3D Connector technology in it that allows you to = find games across the Internet from within Sea3D itself! Now you can = find games at any time from anywhere, even if none of your friends are = online. Sea3D also has an updated rotating cube of fame, which may have = YOUR name on it, if you've submitted a bug report in the past. To get the new version and find out more about S3D Connector, visit = http://www.settlers3d.net. If you like it, tell your friends about it! = The more people using S3D Connector, the easier it will be to find games = to play! Jason |
