Anyone willing to do some testing for me with Kaffeine, please let me know. They would be just simple things but a DVB source would be required. Lasse |

Hi guys, I know I should have done this step earlier. After taking over this project from Christophe Thommeret long ago and doing a lot of interesting stuff, I've been busy with real life in the past months (years) and the situation will not change in the future. As I'm unable to maintain Kaffeine in an appropriate manner, I've decided to abandon the project. Therefore I'm asking whether someone is interested in taking over maintainership; I've listed the current state of the project at the end of this mail. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to deal with patches earlier [ sorry guys! ], so I don't have a logical candidate or so. But if somebody is willing to take over [ you should know a bit about Qt and KDE and preferably have some Dvb / Atsc equipment at hand ], I will try to support the handover. Regards, Christoph - Last released version (QT4 / KDE 4): Kaffeine 1.2.2 on 2011-04-04. This should still be stable enough for many purposes. - Bug tracker: https://bugs.kde.org/ - Git repository: KDE extragear; https://projects.kde.org/projects/extragear/multimedia/kaffeine/repository There is a transition from xine to vlc going on; needs some love. - Mailing lists / releases: hosted at sourceforge. - Home page: http://kaffeine.kde.org/ which is down at the moment (but can be reactivated if someone takes care of it); archived version: http://web.archive.org/web/20130613232503/http://kaffeine.kde.org/ - Varia: https://git.reviewboard.kde.org |

Hi, My './configure' command ends in this: ---------------------------------------------------------- Kaffeine ERROR: Kaffeine requires cdparanoia headers and libraries ---------------------------------------------------------- [root@lhs kaffeine-0.8.1]# rpm -aq|grep cdparanoia cdparanoia-libs-alpha9.8-25 cdparanoia-devel-alpha9.8-25 cdparanoia-alpha9.8-25 [root@lhs kaffeine-0.8.1]# Is there anything I need to adjust so it sees my cdparanoia libraries and headers? Or are there libraries I'm missing? Regards, Tom |

This is a bugfix release. Changelog for 0.8.1: * fixed: configure check for cdparanoia. * Disc: force playing dvd/vcd with engine's default drive if kded_mediamanager fails to identify it. * kaffeine-part: plug dvd nav actions * DVB: write to fifo from a thread to circumvent deadlocks when xine stops (or fails) reading. * kaffeine-part: set skip forward/backward to 20s (to avoid "skating" when seeking in divx) * DVB: avoid negative freq value. * fixed: system:/media urls * fixed: include qapplication.h instead of qapp.h * fixed: use memcpy instead of mempcpy(gnu only) in ogg encoder. * fixed: ogg encoder makefile. -- Christophe Thommeret |

Hi, Kaffeine 0.5-rc1 was just released. Whats new? The GUI was completely redesigned, a lot of code rewritten. Kaffeine is now= a=20 single window application and comes with the common KDE look&feel, like=20 configurable toolbars, statusbar, etc. Player, playlist and the new start=20 window are embedded as tabs. The shell application is able to use different= =20 player parts (plugins), based on different engines. Currently only the=20 kaffeine-part, based on xine, is fully supported, but you could also use th= e=20 kplayer-part (mplayer) or kaboodle (arts) for playback. More player parts m= ay=20 follow in the future.=20 New Features: =2D Playlist: Artist, Album and Track column added. A list-box in the toolb= ar=20 makes it possible to switch fast to another playlist. Remembers last played= =20 track. New queue mode: Select =E2=80=9CPlay next=E2=80=9D from playlist con= text menu to add a=20 track to the queue. After queue is empty, normal playback will be continued. =2D New start window provides fast access to most important media sources. =2D Network transparency: If given protocol is not supported by xine, the s= ource=20 will be downloaded via KIO system. =2D New player features: jump to time, mute, fast forward, slow motion =2D Support for xine's audio post-filters. With xine-lib >=3D 1.0rc6a you c= an use=20 now the upmix plugin and the really cool stretch plugin. =2D ASX import improved, rudimentary support for SMIL added. =2D Use mouse wheel over system tray icon to skip to next/previous track. =2D File dialog have now default filters for all common formats. =2D Error dialog shows xine log as details. =2D Fullscreen: double click switches to full screen, and middle click make= s=20 toolbars visible. =2D Improved install wizard dialog checks the installation (xine-lib, DMA m= ode,=20 etc.). =46ixed: =2D Screenshots from anamorphic streams have an correct aspect ratio now. =2D Distortion removed if user drags volume slider over 50%. =2D URLs are passed to player without encoding. That fixes problems with th= e VCD=20 plugin, special characters like '?' and '@' and password protected hosts. =2D Made fullscreen mode working with fluxbox window manager. =2D Font encoding of post-filter help dialog is correct now. =2D Disabled KDE session management. Made a lot of problems. Download:=20 https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=3D86937&package_id= =3D90404&release_id=3D272433 Homepage: http://kaffeine.sourceforge.net Enjoy it! Hi, I've just released Kaffeine 0.4.3. The crash on closing with xfree 4.4 was finally fixed. Besides that we fixed a security vulnerability in the mozilla starter plugin and did some improvements: * using tvtime plugin for deinterlacing * settings dialog to select deinterlace quality * incremental playlist search (hide entries that don't match the search string) * made all shortcuts configurable * if init of audio/video driver fails, try 'auto' * left click on position slider seeks directly to a position * mozilla plugin: big code cleanup, works more reliable now, handles microsoft media streams better * konqueror/kpart: made priority higher that kaboodles, fixed problem with multiple loadings, improved handling of microsoft media streams * english/german manpages * new translations: Slovenian, Norwegian Bokmål Hints for packagers: - a package compiled against xfree 4.4 might not start with xfree 4.3; vice versa, a package compiled against 4.3 will crash on closing with xfree 4.4 :-( - please correct all links to http://kaffeine.sourceforge.net - my old homepage will be down in some days!
