Dear Sir or Madam :
=20
Please, let me introduce myself. My name is Stan Samoilov. I am =
co-founder of the software development company named "System Storage =
Software" that is located in Kiev, Ukraine. For the past 11 years our =
entire team has been specialized in the area of offshore software =
development. With great mutual business success we have been serving =
Western companies and customers. Products developed by System Storage =
Software for its customers are successfully sold all over the world.
=20
The following business model that we'd like to offer has already =
been proven to be efficient and mutually successful. Within the =
framework of the model you could use us as a low cost subcontractor =
to implement some of your software development projects. You =
communicate with your customers, and get paid by them at some =
external rate (or, similarly, you can sell your own software products =
that we will help you to develop). Basically, we perform the =
programming job for you and get paid by you at a lower internal =
rate. Because we have highly skilled software specialists in many =
fields, we can provide quality solutions to the customers with =
all kinds of IT demands. Another important thing is that our rates =
are significantly lower than most other companies in the offshore =
software development market could offer. If established, our =
partnership has all the chances to win a number of new customers for =
you (or help to increase your market share for that matter).Your =
competitors in the market won't be able to offer same price/quality =
ratio for their solutions, since we will outplay them in four key =
areas such as: cutting edge software development skills, =
significantly reduced time to market, highest quality, and low price. =
We do realize that some other companies could also offer good =
quality of the software, but they will keep you overcharged. By relying =
on extensive programming expertise and employing highly skilled =
software engineers, we are able to reduce time-to-market for our =
solutions significantly. As a result, your investment in solution =
development pays off faster. Our policy is that our Price to Quality =
Ratio is extremely competitive on the market, and we provide our =
customers with the highest value per dollar invested.
The major distinguishing feature of the System Storage Software's model =
and main benefit to customers is a permanent core team that accumulates =
technical expertise related to Software Developer technologies over an =
extended time frame. We continually upgrade our resources to provide =
cutting-edge technologies for our Software Developer projects. The most =
typical projects we performed in this area can be viewed at:
http://www.sys-stor-software.com
The principles underlying our Software Engineering Process have proved =
their propriety over the years of experience in creating superior =
business solutions:
- Our methodology is based on an iterative model and is supported by =
Rational Unified Process (RUP) tools. We are also more than willing to =
operate in accordance with client-specific requirements and methods. We =
track industry innovations and emerging technologies in order to provide =
our customers with the most up-to-date industry solutions and practices.
- Once we have outlined the vision for the project, we plan the =
development and make the requirements more specific. The quality process =
is started at this stage. We produce a draft design and prototypes to =
ensure that we are on the right path from an early stage.=20
If you don't have a detailed specification for the system you want, we =
can work with you to create one.
- Progress reports and deliverables will be made available to the =
customer at pre-agreed intervals. The customer may choose to receive =
remote access to the development server via a VPN or some other secure =
means. By accessing the development server remotely, the customer can =
monitor progress in real time, and maintain overall control even though =
work is being carried out offsite.
- Our quality assurance methodology ensures application reliability for =
a wide range of operating systems, platforms, applications and tools =
before going live.
- If a project is short-term, we provide free support of the product for =
6 months. This support simple allows our customers to have confidence =
that the solution is reliable; with the following free support features =
customers have no risk:
1) Consulting the Customer on the product.=20
2) Fixing bugs.=20
3) Making minor changes and additions that do not require reworking any =
technical components of the system.=20
4) Sometimes it is necessary to make changes while working on the =
project. Minor changes that do not require redesigning of any technical =
components of the system and are within the technical requirement agreed =
on with the Customer are performed with no additional charge.
The cost of work is 9-13 USD per hour (1440 - 2080 USD per month). =
Payments are made monthly. The first pay is to be made in a month after =
the beginning of the work, after sending of the work done during the =
month.
=20
=20
Please, for more information look at http://www.sys-stor-software.com =
to see that we make a serious and very viable offer.
=20
Thank you very much for your time and consideration. =20
Please, let me know, I am looking forward to hear from you soon.
=20
Sincerely yours,
Stan Samoilov

Hello all it's a time for a long overdue release of iSQL-Viewer.
This update will include a new website design thanks to Lakshmi =20
Natarajan for the help
and to Piotr Kr=C4=99glickifor doing the original design.
Also for those who are wondering, Yes I do plan on adding support for =20=
the JDK 5.0 in
future releases as time permits. Once the JDK 5.0 is more widespread, =20=
mainly available
on Mac OS X then I will probably then make a more of a push to make it =20=
take more advantage
of the new changes in the JDK 5.0. If anyone would like to test on the =20=
new JDK i would
be interested to hear of your results, I have gotten iSQL-Viewer to run =20=
on the betas runtimes.
For your convenience you can download the new version here.

Hello all it's that time again. Version 2.1.6 is officially out and ready for download. This version is fairly stable however there are some new features that need some time to stabilize with a bit more usage. I am however marking it as a beta release for this reason. I do recommend upgrading to this version as a lot of the core functionality has been given a nice stable kick in the pants, figuratively speaking of course. For your convenience you can download the new version here. * Mac OS X : http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/isql/macosx-install-isql- 2.1.6a.dmg?download * Windows : http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/isql/win32-install-isql- 2.1.6a.exe?download * Linux : http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/isql/linux-install-isql- 2.1.6a.bin?download * Other Java-enabled : http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/isql/java-install-isql- 2.1.6a.jar?download Before I give a quick rundown on the new features, I would like to take this time to tell you all about some changes on the website that hopefully will be useful. * There is a new anonymous feedback system in place as well there you will be able to submit feedback in anonymous fashion. You will still need to be a registered sourceforge user to submit feature requests and bugs. http://isql.sourceforge.net/feedback.php * There is now a simple tutorial system that I have in place there are total of 9 tutorials Using the J2EE adapter : http://isql.sourceforge.net/tutorial.php?topic=j2ee Import Wizard : http://isql.sourceforge.net/tutorial.php?topic=import Import BLOB/CLOB's : http://isql.sourceforge.net/tutorial.php?topic=import-lob Import using ASCII files : http://isql.sourceforge.net/tutorial.php?topic=import-ascii Table Editor : http://isql.sourceforge.net/tutorial.php?topic=table-editor SQL Editor : http://isql.sourceforge.net/tutorial.php?topic=sql-editor Remote Services : http://isql.sourceforge.net/tutorial.php?topic=remote-services Bookmarks : http://isql.sourceforge.net/tutorial.php?topic=bookmarks Service Manager : http://isql.sourceforge.net/tutorial.php?topic=services This version has some significant changes. Hello all, once again I apologize for the delay in time of this release however my life has been rather busy. Anyhow I am very excited for this release as I am comfortable in declaring it stable for day to day usage. This also means that 2.1.0 will slowly become less and less supported by myself to support the newer version. This release will also mark a very stable milestone for my code such that a lot of the core functionality as being an SQL console is pretty solid now, and I can focus on features to compliment this core. This includes things like a live table editor which is probably the most requested feature. Along with new tools I intended to create a better environment for people to write small plugins to do specific tasks, such I hope that iSQL-Viewer will become useful in ways I never thought conceived of. Another reason I am excited for this release is that this will be that last stable release targeted for the 1.3.1_XX API. Since the JDK is now available publicly to all major platforms, those being Mac OSX, Windows, and Linux, I will now start moving to more JDK 1.4.1 optimized code, and support for 1.3.1 will gradually dwindle in the upcoming betas. As always a full list of things changed in this release can be viewed at the following location : http://isql.sourceforge.net/errata_v2_1_5.shtml Here are some key things I feel are important in this release. ** New locale support, iSQL-Viewer is now available in german, Thanks to Bernd Stolle for the translations. ** A more complete Query Builder supporting WHERE and ORDER BY clauses, also it will create inner joins, based on foreign and primary key relationships that can detected. ** Better synchronization of services to the actual service files, such that they are URL based (* yes you can edit the services.cache file and use HTTP URLS to load services from the web *) ** Better support for JDK 1.4.1 including proxy support for using the web check functionality. ** All of iSQL-Viewers core classes have been documented, along with that JavaDocs are online now. ** Better interpretations of the JDBC API particularly when dealing with ResultSets. ** More support for web start versions such that beta version will be available through web start. ** New "Quick Batch" for using existing batch preferences to quickly launch a batch file. (* NOTE:: Batch wizard is still available through the file->import menu *) ** Support for managing that list of drivers that the service manager uses. (* Under the service manager item in the preferences panel *) --Markus --http://isqlviewer.com |

Hello all, I apologize for the unusually large gap between this release and 2.1.2 which in hind sight has so many issues I am not sure why i released it at that point. this particular release notice is rather lengthy but lots of good info on iSQL-Viewer as it is part of my new years resolution to have as much documentation available as i can muster However this release I promise to be very good, in fact if all goes well the next release will be considered stable and replace the now 1 year old version 2.1.0 As always a full list of things changed in this release can be viewed at the following location : http://isql.sourceforge.net/errata_v2_1_4.shtml TWO MAJOR WARNINGS !!!!! I must express here before i talk about anything else. ** The properties file is not i18n compliant meaning all of the preferences keys have changed for this reason as well as to have more uniformity in them. This will pretty much break all your existing preferences I highly suggest you simply remove your old preferences file and start new. ** Services are now detected at startup instead of relying on the property inside the preferences file, as of now the order will generally be alphabetical so the ordering gimmick in the service manager doesn't have much effect at this time. So all files in the designated "isql.home" directory that match "*.service" will be used as available services. This releases addresses many internal issues that I have been dealing with for quite some time now. This release marks the end of the confusing package structure i have been using. Here is a quick rundown of the new packages and what each one means. - [+] org - [+] isqlviewer - [+] swing Basic Reusable Components, most or non isql specific - [+] print Print oriented classes, including the preview dialog. - [+] util basic utility class that may or may not have isql dependancies - [+] sql SQL Oriented classes most do not have any isql dependancies - [+] event Generic event classes used in isql, no dependancies - [+] core Core system like classes for isql e.g HistoryItem, and SQLBookmark are here - [+] filters A collection of table filters - [+] model All the Data models for Trees and tables resides here. - [+] ui User interface related object mostly isql specific screens - [+] resource Main ResourcesBundles and html files are here - [+] icons isql icons reside here - [+] jedit Jedit Syntax package - [+] syntax This hopefully will help some of you who wish to develop with iSQL-Viewer. There is a new interface for using bookmarks i have created a Drawer like component for those of you who do not know what this is (* mostly non-mac users *) there are some new screenshots showing this drawer component for getting to and using bookmarks. along with that Drag and Drop of bookmarks is much more consistent on all platforms and actually works this time :-D On the subject of bookmarks there is a new features for executing SQL command in general in iSQL-Viewer now. You can now have parameters in queries. What this means is you can set variables to be prompted for values to superimpose into your command string before it is executed. This will be a great asset for SQLBookmarks but executing a normal query will still have this feature. For example... if you execute "SELECT * FROM USERS WHERE USER_NAME=&USER_NAME" you will be prompted to enter a value for USER_NAME and that value will replace the &USER_NAME text, so if you enter ""BOB"" the SQL executed will look like "SELECT * FROM USERS WHERE USERNAME="BOB"" This release will also introduce new HistoryManager for help keeping track of history items. history items are now referred in respect to time, such as new, newer, old, and older. The History viewer has also gotten a MUCH MUCH needed facelift. You will want to check out the preferences editor and see the new History preferences you can set. Another big change with this release is that the TableFilter API has gotten a serious overhaul it is now much more practical and useful to those wish to make custom import and or export filters. With this new API the respective wizards have new more platform neutral interfaces. --Markus --http://isqlviewer.com |

Hello again. sorry for this release taking so long. Some good things this time around,, and should be more usable then the last version. A few key things i would like to point out here, as always you can go to the iSQL-Viewer website and view the complete list of changes for this version @ http://isql.sf.net/errata_v2_1_2.shtml * There are still some unresolved issues with importing data from the import wizard this is one of the my top things to do for the next revision so if this is causing problems for you please bear with me on this one. * Fixed problems with saving bookmarks using <>" characters this was a big oops on my part i apologize for this inconvenience. * Another side note that table will render a bit differently now, as per suggested by a posting on the iSQL forums on sourceforge as the table is loaded the column widths automatically adjust thier width to the maximum width of the data or the column header which ever is larger this should make viewing the data much easier. * A preliminary query builder is now available it doesn't do much for now it will do some basic selecting, it has now easy way to declare your where clause so you can create some big cartesian tables if you aren't careful, Please remember this is preliminary i have a lot more i need/want to do with this. * iSQL-Viewer now uses something i call service definitions, this hopefully gives simplicity, and much more options down the line. As first new option for services they now can each have their own classloader, This could be useful for testing two different driver versions that have the same class name. *** NOTE *** with this service definition iSQL *should* convert your existing services to the new format where it is a service has all the information in a separate file as the same name of the service. please make sure you back up your properties file just in case you have a lot of services defined. I have done as much testing as i could to make sure the new conversion happens with no problems. as always thanks for using iSQL-Viewer comments and suggestions are always welcome --Markus --http://isqlviewer.com |

Well after much time since the last release this one is long overdue. I apologize for the unusual time gap between releases hopefully with things calming down at my job I can have more gumption to work on iSQL in the evenings. Anyhow lots of good stuff this time, so hopefully it is worth the wait Key Points about this new release are. * iSQL-Viewer is now available via Install-Anywhere for easier install and use. * Support of IBM's BSF Engine to include support for using JPython scripts. * Incorporating the jEdits Syntax Package component for syntax highlighting. * New Bookmark feature to keep common SQL without relying on history buffer. * Better Control over Rendering complex data type such as BLOB and CLOBS. * Better support/behavior for Mac OSX A full list of things improved/changed/added can be found at the following URL http://isql.sourceforge.net/errata_v2_1_1.shtml I do know of some problems with this release particularly with the service manager and saving preferences, as well as other little nuances that hopefully doesn't receive much criticism This version will not be released via Java Web start for various reasons at this time. I am tossing around the idea of actually just dropping the whole web start thing all together with the advent of the install anywhere files. Any comments suggestion on this topic are welcome. I highly recommend using the Install-Anywhere packages as it setups your classpaths with the right XML Libraries and BSF Script Engine with JPython Support with no extra intervention. This hopefully will save me the headache of trying to fix every possible classpath problem that can happen this way. I would also like to take this time for any and all those who voted for me at the JDJ Readers Choice awards, I appreciate the support. --Markus --http://isqlviewer.com |

Hello All.
Once again it has come to release a new version of iSQL-Viewer out into
the wild.
This features provides many interface enhancements and fixes. This
version also hopes to prove to be the most compatible as far as JDBC
drivers are concerned. This release is a milestone release for me and
will be marked as stable as i have put it through many testing
environments and it has preformed well.
The web site has also gotten an update as well with a new F.A.Q.
There is also a new iSQL-Viewer Tour to help users get started using
iSQL-Viewer with an somewhat interactive guide to show step by step how
to setup and connect to iSQL Services. the tour can be located at
http://isql.sf.net/tour.shtml
The number of fixes and enhancements are far too long to include in
this message the information regarding this release can be found here
http://isql.sf.net/errata_v2_1_0.shtml
A note to people who download and compile the source.
I have rewritten most of the ANT build script to have more appropriate
targets for building iSQL-Viewer.
Also i have cleaned up the CVS Tree and have removed the deprecated
classes from the source tree this means that XML is no longer required
to compile iSQL-Viewer anymore.
I hope you all enjoy the improvements i have made so far, and i have a
lot of neat stuff on the way and make this the best release yet :-D
as always have fun, and thanks for using iSQL-Viewer

Hello All, This is a small maintenance release mainly to address the Initialization Error that occurred for some people. I added a few small things however time was not on my side this time since a lot of people couldn't even run the program. You can view them all with the following URL. http://isql.sf.net/errata_v2_0_9.shtml I have also preliminary table sorting i didn't have time to implement this fully however double-clicking the table headers will sort the column in ascending order only. iSQL-Viewer is almost to 2.1.0 from my own metrics. I will not be adding any new features till 2.1.0 is released i would like to verify that 2.0.9 is stable and usable. So please make sure you are diligent with any feedback for me if you are having problems with the program. As Always have fun and enjoy and fell free to contact me about any questions. --Markus |

Hello All, It has been awhile since my last update as with holidays and various other things my time to work on isql was limited this time around so hopefully for all you this will be worth the wait. Lot of goodies have been included and the web site has also gotten a significant face lift which should be more enjoyable to view. Make sure to send a note to anitra <anitra at anitrapavka dot com> to let her know if you like the new site or not. Lots of new Bug Fixes and new Features. I hope this release further increases it's compatibility with just about every JDBC Driver out there, should be tolerable :) You can view them all with the following URL. http://isql.sf.net/errata_v2_0_8.shtml A Small note about an update to the Microsoft Excel Table Import Filter. it does work and handle all versions of the file from Excel 2.1 to Office 2000 however since i didn't fully implement a OLE2 parsing in the code you may or may not get the right import with the newer versions of the file. This version as well as future versions are now Java Web Start able. you can point your browser to http://isql.sf.net/webstart.php to run isql with Java web start. please make sure that in order for webstart to work you must accept the signed jar even though it isn't signed by a valid source and such since i don't have the money to buy a real certificate :) A new mailing list is available on the project for people wishing to develop isql in any kind of way isq...@li... is the address the URL to subscribe is this http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/isql-alpha also a side note you may or may not know that i have registered the isqlviewer domain with com net and org extensions. these all do point to the sourceforge site though. I will monitor this list and assist in anyway i can. As Always have fun and enjoy and fell free to contact me about any questions. --Markus |

Pre-release of version 2.0.7 is now available in CVS. Some notes about this :: * Kunststoff Look and feel (http://www.incors.com/) is now supported if it can be found iSQL ill make it an option in the Preferences Editor. You can add the jar to the classpath via command line or the XtraClasspaths Option * New Tab close behavior that mimics that of LimeWire where there is a 'X' icon to close the tab the former way to remove tabs now will remove all unlocked tabs. * Excel import has been improved some more version of the file are support in particular Office 97/2000 or BIFF8 format does work I do believe there are some issues still with the Excel 95 Format but those should be rectified upon 2.0.7 final release. FYI :: SQL syntax highlighting is almost done and should be ready when 2.0.7 is ready. as always have fun --Markus |

Happy THanksgiving to all who observe the holiday and here is something for me to give :) As Always Enjoy --Markus. http://isql.sf.net/errata_v2_0_6.html to see what is changed. Notes and Information Regarding this release. This version debuts of the new/long awaited Import Data wizard. This should be fairly straight forward since i haven now consolidated import and export functionality into a single interface, and in general the user process is the same for both. Excel Files of version 2.1 and ASCII delimited files are available for importing. I do realize Excel 2.1 is a very old and sometimes not very accessible file format however it was the easiest for me to implement given my time frame i will add more version support later. You can still do a save as in Excel to the 2.1 format. ** A note on the Excel Import Table Filter *** It does not currently respect and formatting and or formulas. if you have a pretty plain spreadsheet it can be read just fine i Do suggest that you be careful with fields that are reprensenting a time and not a date though. Also a Feature request to have a data cell magnifyer so to speak is now available just Execute your query and then Ctrl+Click the desired table cell and you will see it more clearly in the TextArea below. ** I do intended to extend this by adding a hex viewer and possibly if time allows an image viewer for BLOBS * A Note for Developers and this new Extension Mechanisim * This is what it really means. I have added an automatic loading of jars placed in an 'ext' directory of the designated iSQL-Viewer home directory. if you aren't sure where this is check your home directory. iSQLViewer will now interrogate those jar files and thier respective manifest for an entry (for now) to describe Table Filters. More types of Manifest Entries are intended to be added. If any jars contains any manifest entries that are pertinent it will make them available in the class path and loaded into the ExtensionsFactory class. This is what this means in a nutshell, i intend to have more information regarding this as it becomes more stable code it is available now however i don't recommend it at this time cause there are still some problems with it. Hopefully this will create a nice interface for a variety of import and export filters. |
