Abysml is intended as a sane alternative to XML: the same tree-like structure is represented, but without the angle brackets, and without repeating keywords. The upshot is that abysml text is much easier to comprehend and edit than equivalent XML. Abysml will be used as the markup language for RISO, although a slightly different format is implemented at the moment.
