JOE 4.8 Released!

This release fixes some minor bugs found immediately after the JOE 4.7 release, it's a completion of JOE 4.7. However, it also includes an important security fix to a tags file vulnerability that affects all previous versions of JOE, so it is important to update to this version.

Yes, it has been far too long. This release contains many bug fixes and enhancements, please see the release notes.

Note that development has shifted from Mercurial to Git here https://github.com/joe-editor/joe.

Some highlights for this release include a new visible whitespace mode, whitespace preserving indent shifts, support for the XDG Base Directory Standard, better support for binary files, standard modifiers for edit keys, a new visual debug mode for syntax files, and many updated syntax files.

JOE 4.6 Released!

This is primarily a bug fix release, see the release notes for details. The most important fix is a crash which would sometimes happen when editing shell scripts.

This release includes .desktop files so that you can select JOE from desktop environment file managers.

This release provides a configure option which allows you to build JOE for Unicode 8.0.0, 9.0.0 or 10.0.0.

JOE 4.5 Released!
