We've tested this code on Linux, Solaris, and AIX versions to our satisfaction. There's a little cleanup left to do, but the main code base is looking good. In addition, the --enable-slpv2-security and --enable-async-api configure options now work cleanly.

It is highly recommended that all OpenSLP users upgrade to this release.

The following is a shortened list changes for 1.0.4:

Use IP address in agent url for those operating systems where gethostname\(\) does not return a fully qualified domain name \(FQDN\).

Applied patch from Tim Zurcher to fix memory realloc problems when messages exceed the SLP MTU of 1400 bytes.

Fixed SEGV when operating with Mac OS/x which insists on sending corrupt SLP messages. Thanks to Ernie Stepson for reporting this problem.

Added code to log parse errors and dump bad messages to the log

Fixed problem where libslp.so would loop tightly if SLPReg\(\) and SLPDereg\(\) were called after previously contacted slpd had died.

Fixed problem where empty message was sent when talking to more than one statically configured DA. Patch from Timothy Zurcher.

OpenSLP 1.0.3 released

The OpenSLP project is an effort to develop an open-source implementation of Service Location Protocol suitable for commercial and non-commercial application.

The latest stable version of OpenSLP is 1.0.3. OpenSLP-1.0.3 fixes a few minor bugs.. The following is a shortened list changes for 1.0.3:

\- Fixed several bugs that were resulting in messagage being send that contained 2-6 bytes of trailing garbage. The garbage was disrupting interoperability with other implementations most notably the Netware 6 DA Special thanks to Timothy Zurcher for debugging this problem.

\- Changed install script so that it does not erase existing configuration files

\- Fixed reconnect code to be able to interoperate with inefficient DAs that close the stream after each srvreg/srvack exchange. This change fixes interoperability with the Mac OS/X DA which is reported to make inefficient use of TCP. Special thanks to Timothy Zurcher for debugging this problem.

\- Applied patch that fixes compile problems related to inet\_aton\(\) on Win32

\- Fixed configure scripts so that -lresolv is used on Solaris

\- Removed calls that \(sort of\) enforce service-url checking. This is for the benefit of AFP's usage of SRVLOC. Developers are now trusted not to register ambiguous service-urls.

\- Applied Tomasz K?oczko patch for automake 1.5
